customline Posted May 16 Posted May 16 That color combo looks great, Bob. Using a later flathead is a cool idea too.

I think I have decided to build the first print of this 35 Coupe the way it was meant to be. I have a couple others I can build later and put my spin on it.
Zippi Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 I got a little painting done this morning before the thunder storms hit this afternoon. 4
BK9300 Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Very steady, if you painted the white walls freehand! Looking good.

Spex84 Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Looking good 😀 It's exciting to see a full 3D printed '30s Ford kit getting built. I like the whitewalls!

When I saw the pic of this 35 Ford available as a .stl file I knew I had to get it because I've never heard of a 35 Ford kit being produced before. The whitewalls came out better than expected but it did take two tries on a couple of them.

Zippi Posted May 19 Author Posted May 19 I now have a rolling chassis. The engine still needs some detail work but the body seems to fit fine on the first mock-up with the wheels. 7 1
James2 Posted May 19 Posted May 19 I love it, the chassis and drive train look as good as the exhaust!

Zippi Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 I shot the primer on yesterday and earlier today I shot the Tamiya Royal Light Gray on. 4
bill-e-boy Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Coming along nicely Bob The mock up prior to paint looks mean. I bet in real life it would be fairly loud with no mufflers too LOL

Zippi Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 I had a little time yesterday so I sprayed the topcoat on the body. Should look ok once the black grille is installed. The rubber black running boards and rag top should bring it to life a little better also. 6
DJMar Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Wow, she looks great! The gray with the red wheels is always a good call.

Zippi Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 Just got the 2k clear shot on the body about an hour ago. I'm sure learning a lot about 3D printing and how to prep and paint the resin parts. I guess this build it a trail run as I'm leaning as I go along. Hope to do better on the next one. 1 1
customline Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Paint looks fantastic, Bob. How do you plan to handle the roof situation?
Zippi Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 43 minutes ago, customline said: Paint looks fantastic, Bob. How do you plan to handle the roof situation? Thanks man. I'll probably cover it with bmf and trim out the rag top and hit it with light coats of matt black so it hopefully won't bleed under the foil.

Edit: .....only because I keep forgetting to do that 😔 Edited May 23 by customline
