XYHARRY Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Just completed my 1/72 Airfix P51d Mustang. All brush painted and built to pre-mission specs. This kit had one oddity in that the lower one peice wingspan was correct P51d on the starboard side but P51b on the port side. To correct it I cut off the rounded wing tip section along the panel line and added a styrene sheet section to fill the void. I also cut the pilots head off and reattached it so that the pilot is looking out to port side, something I have always done with my pilots. All feedback is welcomed and appreciated. Cheers, David. 😎👍 8
mustang1989 Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Good job on this one Dave! Airfix has really upped their game in the past 10 years or so with their aircraft kits. I had a 1/48 Bf109E-4 in my stash at one point and that was a GREAT looking kit right OOB. I should've kept that one.

STU111 Posted May 7 Posted May 7 G’day David, nice work on the P51d. Like the fact you put the pilot in the cockpit, l always paint the little guys up and put them in my plane builds. Nice weathering also. 👍🏻 1

I just opened up the box and looked at the parts. It's my 1st Airfix kit. The tiny molded in details are almost unbelievable! Nice job XYHARRY! 1

Here is what I’m shooting for the 2022 Miss America.
