Twokidsnosleep Posted May 29 Author Posted May 29 (edited) Some wheel options I think the kit ones are the best (first) but I love the fat racing slicks Edited May 30 by Twokidsnosleep

Twokidsnosleep Posted May 30 Author Posted May 30 Some black primer interior and roof Got my stagnant air brushes working better now 1
Zippi Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I with ya Scott, I like those Big ole meats also. Looking good man. 1
bobss396 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Anyone catch the Chevy truck master cylinder? It handled the brakes and the hydraulic clutch. Another rabbit hole... some of the Chevy truck bell housings had the clutch fork on the passenger side. 1
Twokidsnosleep Posted May 31 Author Posted May 31 (edited) Pretty much all in primer and ready to go colour. Tend to do Tamiya XF with lacquer thinner and then an2k clear. Was looking at some mixes I did for another model with a CAT yellow/orange. Nope too dark. about as smooth as I am gotta get this. Will let the primer harden up overnight at least. Twokidsnosleep Posted June 2 Author Posted June 2 (edited) Shot some colour while the weather was drier. First layers of Tamiya XF-3 50-50 with Mr Hobby MLT. Some goobers and rough spots to get out before coat two and then the 2K clear will shine that flat yellow right up. It’s a cross between piss yellow and puke green I may take another run at those rear window areas now I can see the flaws so much better in yellow Edited June 7 by Twokidsnosleep 6
Zippi Posted June 2 Posted June 2 That yellow looks pretty nice Scott. Yeah, that 2k clear will make it shine like a new penny. 1
Twokidsnosleep Posted June 4 Author Posted June 4 (edited) Working on a new window frame Version 2 is in brass and I am on the second rendition as the first was measured on the window glass and way too big for the car’s actual opening. Attempt 1 too big attempt #2 a bit smaller still some refining Edited June 4 by Twokidsnosleep 4

slusher Posted June 9 Posted June 9 So you used an acrylic yellow and clear will be lacquer. That should look really nice… 1
Twokidsnosleep Posted June 16 Author Posted June 16 (edited) Working on fenders right now Have some motorcycle ones for the fronts to chop up The rears are quite a bit harder from flat styrene or metal sheet stock….double curves and all 😵💫 Edited 7 hours ago by Twokidsnosleep 1
Twokidsnosleep Posted June 16 Author Posted June 16 Fender options and transmission/ carbs are printing 2 1
Twokidsnosleep Posted June 17 Author Posted June 17 (edited) A bit more printing done, some engine/ transmission dilemmas I will usually print three or four scales to get a part correct, but this transmission is still LONG! This is the Nova engine/trans in comparison Most of my carbs failed and I only got the smallest ones to print. This is siting on the 327 display block from the Nova kit…nice but no oil pan for it😡 Edited June 17 by Twokidsnosleep
dodgefever Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Yeah, those are way too big. If you work from a known dimension and scale the model correctly, you only have to print it once. 🤔 The real car had a 4 speed anyway - might as well use the Nova tranny. BTW, the heads are the wrong way around, if that matters to you... 1
Twokidsnosleep Posted June 17 Author Posted June 17 (edited) When you get a file from the internet, you don’t known what dimensions and what ‘scale’ they are using I have no idea what this will look like so print out variations 10% apart scaled up and down and see what works. The benefit of printing yourself vs a dealer of finished parts. Also I found the four speed Wagner file last night Edited June 18 by Twokidsnosleep
DJMar Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Here's a shot of the instruction sheet - you've got the cylinder heads on upside down. 1

Indeed I thought those were the exhaust ports the detail on this engine is soft and I am missing a lot of stuff to it..oil pan, intake manifold, valve covers. the easy route is to stick in the nova engine and go from there, but it is soft detail too and then I ruin that kit. ? Bite bullet and buy an entire 327 stl file?? I prefer buying stl files and printing myself as the size and quality of other finished 3D printed parts is not perfect and I have no leeway to adjust stuff if I don’t have the file. This is why I wanted a cheap ‘30 starter kit, to spend a bit on details Edited June 18 by Twokidsnosleep
