I just wasn't sure until I did the mock-up. 3 hours ago, Bugatti Fan said: Zippi, just out of interest a father and son team Rod and Ian Knott used to do the UK Model Shows with their Motor Museum In Miniature. One of them actually converted the Anglia back into a standard factory stock road car. Have a look at their website for the Museum as there may be a picture somewhere in there. The site has lots of useful information on it for car model buildets generally too. Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. 1 hour ago, johnyrotten said: That looks really good. They resemble the shape of the fronts remarkably well. What has you "on the fence" on the look, If I may ask? I appreciate it. Looking from the back looks a little odd to me but, the more I look at it the more I like it. Maybe a fresh look at it when I go out in the garage this morning will put a different perspective on it. 28 minutes ago, bobss396 said: The engine bay on those is real tight. IIRC the kit engines were a 394 Olds with a hydro transmission. I think an injected SBC might go well with no major slice 'n dice action. I have to dig mine out. Yeah, it is a bit cozy in the business end. The engine choice is still up in the air at this point. Just haven't got to it yet.
Zippi Posted June 1 Author Posted June 1 I got the parting lines and flash cleaned up and threw some primer on to see what I missed. The top looks good but the front fenders need a little more sanding. 4 1
Zippi Posted June 1 Author Posted June 1 I primed the engine with Tamiya Gray Surface Primer then hit it with the TS-53 Deep Metallic Blue. It's hard to see in the pics but the blue paint wants to pull away from the edges. I've seen this happen with their red paint before. Tow coats of primer and 3 coats of the topcoat. Not sure If I want to use this paint now. 2

Not sure If I want to use this paint now. Is the TS-53 straight from the can or airbrushed? It’s almost behaving like an acrylic. If you decant it and spray it in light coats it might eliminate that wicking action? Just a thought if you really like that paint.

I think I'll let this dry really good and give it another coat before I do anything else. 1
TransAmMike Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Well Buddy, I like the engine painted in the deep blue. I forgot if you told me what color you are going to paint the body. Keep up the great work, and yeah, as I have told you, looks like a mini old Ford Sedan.

The body is going to be the same deep blue as the engine.
bobss396 Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Is the engine 3D printed resin? I find that almost any 3D part I have to wash first before I even squirt primer on it. I've had issues with using Tamiya primer lately. It does funny stuff like you're seeing.

Zippi Posted June 2 Author Posted June 2 Looking at the body this morning I wasn't satisfied with how the fenders looked at the rear so some body work was required. 4
Zippi Posted June 4 Author Posted June 4 I had a chance this morning to print out a Hillborn Fuel Injection setup that comes with the Uncertain T. It looks much better than the kit setup but may be a little tall. I'll have to see once I get a little further in the build and do a mock-up. 4
bluestringer Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Looking great Bob. I've been away from the forum for a while, but I see you are still building some nice kits. The wife and I have had some medical issues this year and I have not been building much. Only finished one so far, a 39 Chevy Van, and I didn't do a good job with it as my building has suffered somewhat. Trying to get back to it. Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.

Hey James, good to see you back Buddy and hope things are going alright now. Yeah, I'm still hacking up plastic.
Andrew McD Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I'm beginning to think you're the Ian Roussel of model car building! Another wild project, I'll be following.

Zippi Posted June 6 Author Posted June 6 Well...I had to hack up the chassis and the transmission tunnel to get the engine to swing up into position so the rear motor mount would fit. The good thing is, it will not be seen. 3
Zippi Posted June 6 Author Posted June 6 Time for a mock-up since I just hacked up the chassis and transmission tunnel. I was afraid that the taller injector stacks from the Uncertain T that I printed out would not allow the hood to swing closed but it just barely fits so I'm a happy camper. 9

Zippi Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 I've been throwing some mud where the rear fenders meet the body then sanding and hitting it with primer to show what I missed. I decided to do a mock-up. Looks like the collectors are pretty close to draging the restate. I like how the tires are up in the fender wells. Looks like the stance is looking good. 4
