David G. Posted August 3 Author Posted August 3 Hello Everybody! It's been a few weeks since I did anything with the Golden Hind and I've hit that point where I either need to do something with it or pack it up. I decided to work on some detail painting. I want to come up with a couple more shades of brown & tan for the deck details. I also applied the first wash on the name plaque. I just may finish this one in spite of myself! As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to share any comments you may have. David G. 2
Anglia105E Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Hi David . . . I think detail painting was probably a good idea, partly to lift your own spirits, and also to bring out some interesting aspects of the ship model. I am guessing that you would like to get this one out of the way and off the workbench pretty soon ! Any thoughts on what you might bring to the table for your next project ? David W.
stavanzer Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Looks Better Than It Should. You have the 'touch' to turn these Pig's Ears into Silk Purses.

Yes, those were my thoughts almost exactly, sort of like a friendly reacquaintance with a troublesome person. Maybe we'll get things worked out this time. Actually, I have been considering options for my next build. I've found myself standing in front of my stash closet searching for the perfect combination of fun, easy and challenging. The perfect combination of which probably doesn't exist. But I do tend to make even the easiest of builds more challenging which is usually where I find my fun. =D- 10 hours ago, meechum68 said: That's really coming together! Thanks for the update! David W. Thanks, I do try to keep it under control. I once figured that at my current rate of building, I would have to live to be about 106 years old to build them all. It's literally a life-time supply. =D-
mustang1989 Posted August 5 Posted August 5 (edited) You're coming along well on this one so far Dave. Whatever you do.....don't pack 'er up man as this has been a fun build to follow. In regard to the wooden deck, have you seen the Army Painter Dark Wood Speedpaint? It's color and wash all in the same application and brings out a realistic wooden finish. Here's a wooden deck that one of the members on my forum used this paint on. Edited August 5 by mustang1989

That does look cool, thanks for the pointer. Though I don't plan to make mine look quite that well detailed. =D- 1
