Silvercreeker Posted June 6 Posted June 6 With so much activity on the Milner Coupe, I think it's time to finally build my favorite Movie car of all time. That is a tough class too! So, using a Drag City Casting chopped 5 window body,(I love the Jimmy Flintstone body, but the chop is too much) Model Car Garage chopped 32 grill and a set of Jays Resin Steel wheels with Racemaster tires. I am using the 32 Revell 5 window and 32 Revell Roadster kits to round out the frame, small block Chevy and body extras. VCG Resins has a manifold that will work with minor adjustments. Using the Dec 96 Scale Auto Enthusiast magazine for final reverences. I remember sitting in the local theater when American Graffiti came out, sitting with my parents (Dad was a car guy too). I will swallow my pride and build the SBC motor, but being a Ford guy, it will be tough Here we go, Enjoy! 7
Calb56 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Sounds cool. I Could've sworn VCG used to sell a sbc "hot rod" engine with a 4 carb intake but I can't find it on the site. Fun facts... https://youtu.be/O9gY7xBqML4?si=9C_2AbkgSRawaTwe

Great parts so far, looking forward to what you can do with them. 8
Bullybeef Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I’ll follow along as this is one that I’ve wanted to build myself! 1
Silvercreeker Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 Found an exact Chevy master cylinder in AMT 60 Chevy pickup kit for the actual match to the one on Milner’s. The Revell 29 Rat Rod donated the front wishbone needed. American Graffiti license plates came in today from Best Model Car parts. (THX 138)! The VCG Resins 6 carb manifold is morphing into an 4 carb Manifold. And fly tying tubing is a perfect match for the fuel lines. This is surely not an out of the box build! 2
NOBLNG Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Excellent attention to detail.👍 I’ll follow along. I’ve always wanted to build one…🙂 1
FoMoCo66 Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Nice work man! Just one question, what is the tool you have in the pick of you carving the intake? 1

OldNYJim Posted June 10 Posted June 10 That sander looks super useful…I’ve got a project now where conventional sanding will ruin some surrounding detail, but this might be perfect for that - thanks for posting! Great start to this project - and nice spot on the master cylinder! I’ll be following! 1
Silvercreeker Posted June 12 Author Posted June 12 Bobbed the frame while the putty was drying on the oil pan. Have to get the fenders on to see the correct height. So much for a stress free build. 😂 3

Twokidsnosleep Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Oh cool! Didn’t see this pop up on builds until now. Following along for sure 👍🏻😎 1
Silvercreeker Posted June 19 Author Posted June 19 At the stage where lots of mock ups and test fittings. Had to scratch build the front A arm to match the real one. Pretty close. So the front suspension is done and I’m happy with the look. Headers are together but need more details. Starting on the rear end ladder bars. 7
Dragline Posted June 22 Posted June 22 "Oh no Sir, that's legal height. Now you you can check it if you want to". Make sure you add the glove full of tickets. 1
Mattblack Posted June 22 Posted June 22 "File that under C.S...." Being picky, wasn't it a door pocket full of tickets? I seem to recall reading the door pocket was added just for that scene. 2

Silvercreeker Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 Slow time of year. When it’s 90+ in Western NY, hard to get motivated. But I like the ride height in the rear. Filled in the frame notches and wrong interior door jams. Slow and steady. 4
Silvercreeker Posted July 1 Author Posted July 1 Back on the bench tonight. Rear end, ladder bars and leaf spring done, working on the headers. Always drives me crazy to forget to add header bolts on the headers. Tichy model train company makes amazing scale bolts. Look good on suspension parts too. Tamiya panel line scriber is amazing on cleaning up the seams on headers too. The judges notice that goofy stuff. 4
Silvercreeker Posted Monday at 11:20 PM Author Posted Monday at 11:20 PM Hard to be motivated when it’s 90’ out and the pool calls your name daily. But, decided to scratch build an aluminum firewall. Thin and strong. Carbs, manifold and scoops are done and sprayed in Alclad. All suspension and frame painted. Moving forward 3
