David G. Posted Friday at 12:58 PM Author Posted Friday at 12:58 PM Hello Everybody! Progress is progressing! It's time to paint the main body color. This time I decided to try using BMF as a masking agent. Making up the balance of the coverage with masking tape. Smoothed down, cleaned up, re-primed and ready for red! After a little drying time I removed the masking and I'm rather pleased with the results. The line left by the foil is cleaner than what would have been left by most masking tapes and paint piling is minimal. There will be a little cleanup & touchup to do but there almost always is. I'll probably use foil masking again but I will have to develop and refine some my techniques for working with it. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post any comments you may wish to share. David G. 5

espo Posted Saturday at 04:59 PM Posted Saturday at 04:59 PM Always amazing how paint will creep under almost any type of tape. Have sometimes given a light coat of Gloss Clear around the edges after masking and before using any other color coat. Usually, but not always, this sort of seals the edge along the tape and any bleed thru should be clear and hopefully undetectable. Before removing the tape just lightly run your #11 along the edge to "break" any bond between the clear and the tape.

Part way through the unmasking I noticed that the paint was starting to tear. Of course, I stopped and grabbed my trusty hobby knife and made a cut all the rest of the way around the trim line. This is the event I was referring to when I said I ..."have to develop and refine some my techniques for working with it." in the earlier post. Thanks again for your comment. David G. 1

David G. Posted yesterday at 03:32 PM Author Posted yesterday at 03:32 PM Hello Everybody! Here's a little more progress. The interior is completed. Revell provided a couple of nice decals for the dashboard and I did the rest. I used BMF on the door card trim strips, the door handles and window cranks are done in a combination of BMF, Molotow and Sharpie. I do like the rear seat plate that Revell provided but the roll bar... well it's there. One small problem I did have was that there was no support for the steering wheel. I had to hold it in place with a foam block while a blob of PVA I applied cured over night. Other than that, no complaints. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post any comments you wish to share. David G. 2
