Karl LaFong Posted June 18 Posted June 18 (edited) I had some late 80's/early 90's paint and parts taking up space, so in a fit of nostalgia, built this 1990 - era street rod. It includes the cliches styling cues of the era -pastel paint, billet wheels, smooth running boards, no bumpers, etc. In progress info here: I wish Revell/Monogram would re-release this kit- it's a cool period piece! DJMar Posted June 18 Posted June 18 This looks really good! Totally late 80s-early 90s street rod stuff right there. 3 hours ago, Karl LaFong said: I wish Revell/Monogram would re-release this kit- it's a cool period piece! Me too, and I keep hoping they will do it with the original (1987) kit wheels, instead of the rollers found in the original convertible kit.
carrucha Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Cool build. I remember seeing these billet rods at Good Guys shows in the 1990s.
Zippi Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Turned out really nice looking Keith. Love the ole fat fender cars.
johnyrotten Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Great looking street rod, reminds me of every magazine cover from my childhood. You nailed the look.
Zen Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Vintage 90's, you nailed it! Been wanting to build one of these forever, just needs a 5.0 Ford in it for me. These kits are all over on the Bay, I probably have too many.
Karl LaFong Posted June 18 Author Posted June 18 Thanks for the kudos! 16 hours ago, DJMar said: Me too, and I keep hoping they will do it with the original (1987) kit wheels, instead of the rollers found in the original convertible kit. Yeah, not only did they change the wheels and the frame for the dropped front axle, they also made the exhaust system one piece (instead of the separate mufflers). I had some NSFW comments about the new front suspension! 1
Calb56 Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Well done, I can hear the billet from here... throw on some ZZ Top or some Tom Petty and it all comes rushing back.
karbuildr Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Very cool street rod. Definitely fits the era, nice details as well.
spencer1984 Posted June 19 Posted June 19 I remember seeing these at shows, great job capturing that time!
stavanzer Posted June 22 Posted June 22 You captured the '90's Vibe perfectly! Blue looks good on it. Good Show.
