LOBBS Posted Saturday at 08:12 PM Posted Saturday at 08:12 PM (edited) I've created a logo for my fictional Fenix Racing "motorsports team" for the long term projects of building a shop/display case and to adorn the Moebius ProStar and race hauler that will also occupy it. I'd need at least 4 at a scale 8 foot or so (just under 4") for the trailer and shop walls and the rest of the sheet would be filled out with smaller versions for the cars themselves and the doors of the cab of the semi. The artwork was done in vector in Adobe Illustrator (the background here was just to check how it would roughly appear on the black paint job I have planned for the tractor trailer combo) as this best allows for scaling the artwork to the proper sizes. I've seen a couple of older threads but with companies coming and going in our hobby I'm curious who is the best out there right now. I'm more concerned with quality that meets or beats what is supplied with kits rather than price TBH. TIA. Edited Sunday at 12:03 AM by LOBBS
Dave Van Posted Saturday at 08:23 PM Posted Saturday at 08:23 PM STS has great customer service and very nice decals. 3
LOBBS Posted Sunday at 12:06 AM Author Posted Sunday at 12:06 AM (edited) After sitting with it for a few hours I decided to go with a simpler, more modern, style and updated the original post. I'll definitely give STS a shout and see what they can do for me as far as printing the decals. Edited Sunday at 12:07 AM by LOBBS
Swamp Dog Posted Monday at 01:09 AM Posted Monday at 01:09 AM (edited) STS are the best in my book. Terry has been doing decals for me a few years now. i got to meet him and his wife Patrice yesterday at the Space City Shootout Contest in Stafford Tx in the Houston area.. they have always been great to deal with over the phone and fun just to BS with in person. its always great to put a face to who you been talking to over the years... they are down to earth people just like the rest of us.😁 Edited Wednesday at 03:53 PM by Swamp Dog 1
Monty Posted Monday at 02:51 AM Posted Monday at 02:51 AM Three votes for STS. Interesting. Wonder what I did wrong. Using the board's advice, I contacted them months ago about replicating the decals from an original AMT Mach Won funny car kit. I discovered that one of our members had the complete decal sheet, so I asked him to send me a picture of it along with a ruler on the side and bottom to provide measurements. Once received, I sent it to Terry and asked if they could do it. He said they could and gave me the costs per sheet and shipping charges. He said we could proceed if I replied with an email address, which I did, as well as brief instructions to start as soon as possible. Since then, nothing. Several emails sent, none answered. I may just go with the Dutch guy. 1
SpeedShift Posted Monday at 08:19 PM Posted Monday at 08:19 PM (edited) Stryromaniac had some decals made by him and they turned out great. He suggested him to me. I sent artwork, it took a while to get into his que and get an invoice, but I did get one and paid. It takes a while to get the proof and then the final product. He cautions a six-to-eight-week turnaround. Edited Monday at 09:35 PM by SpeedShift 1
Can-Con Posted Monday at 09:45 PM Posted Monday at 09:45 PM Had some done by STS last year. It did take a while but I'm very happy with them. 1

SpeedAndViolence Posted Wednesday at 07:27 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:27 PM (edited) I'll state on the record that I have paid...back in March no less, and after 20(!) email exchanges, I have still not received one email containing proofs, much less a screenshot of the work in progress. I'm trying my best to be patient and give the guy some slack, but clearly I'm not on the list of priority. I emailed him once again last Monday for a status update on my order. (Email #20 to be exact) and have not yet received a reply. He stated that he had a family emergency in our last email exchange a month ago, so I'm once again giving him the benefit of the doubt. But with each unanswered email, or reply without a status update, he's giving me less and less to work with, and my patience is wearing very thin at this point. If you are a friend of his, you might want to let him know that the guy in Oklahoma wanting the custom 'Ring Bros 69 Mach 1-'UNKL' decals, isn't real happy at the moment. Assuming he ever gets back to me, does he accept regular credit cars for payment? I got rid of Paypal years ago.
Fantom Posted yesterday at 12:41 AM Posted yesterday at 12:41 AM For what’s it worth, I have always communicated with him through private messages in Facebook. He has always responded quickly to that.

oldcarfan Posted yesterday at 01:40 AM Posted yesterday at 01:40 AM STS is my recommendation too. If it doesn't nave to be decals, you might ask around and see if anyone you know has a Cricut. They are pretty easy to use and could easily cut your artwork out of vinyl. 1

Me and SpeedAndViolence would like to find out, but his situation is even worse than mine and doesn’t look like it’s going to be resolved anytime soon. If you don’t want my business just tell me and I’ll move on.

Thank you. I appreciate that. I deleted my FB account as well, so phone and email are my only contact options that I am aware of. Full disclosure...their phone number is in every email I received, but making a phone call vs sending an email (and this is solely my opinion) presents the attitude that I am throwing a tantrum and demanding to be at the front of the line ahead of everyone else in the queue. And that is absolutely not how I want to be perceived as a customer. It's just decals. I was happy to pay upfront because of all the positive statements made about STS. And because of those (and additional positive statements made in this very thread even! ), I would much rather have a sheet of sharp looking custom decals, instead of a refund. I paid, honor your agreement. That's literally all I'm asking.
LOBBS Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago I messaged STS on FB just now and they responded within a few minutes. After a couple of exchanges back and forth they just had me call them and we worked out the rest of the details on what they needed from me in terms of exporting the files. I'm quite comfortable working with Adobe so I can take some of the load off them in terms of scaling everything and fitting it to the sheets they use. 1

I'm sure that's the preferred way to get your decals quickly. In my instance however, I made it known that I was unable to provide that, (nor do I have the time at the moment to invest in learning to do so), but he agreed to help and sent me an invoice, at which I promptly paid.
