So I understand your aversion to making the change. Thankfully it went pretty smoothly and the results look great. Actually, Craig, it was nothing I haven't done more times than I can count. I'm not a multi-tasking sort. I tend to focus and ignore what's around me. That leads to a lot of "Oh $hit !"s. 🥴 1 1
customline Posted August 5 Author Posted August 5 (edited) Today's late edition DO NOT ZOOM ON THE DASH 🤨 It was a terrible time. The guages are so tiny i kept losing them.. I recommend drilling out the holes and give it a skin on the back for the decals to sit on. The guage panel was too deep to foil. After 3 attempts, I couldn't not tear the foil so I gave up and painted it. I forgot to chrome the knobs. Note to self: ..... And then I tried to rub out deep scratches on the hood to no avail. But it's ready for paint.....again. then I fitted it with hood magnets. I think I've got the scratch issue under control. We have good painting weather coming and it's not quite ready. Much to do, much to do..... I told you not to zoom on the dash, didn't I? 🤮 Edited August 5 by customline 1
customline Posted August 5 Author Posted August 5 (edited) You may recall I mentioned the difficulty of inserting the tub Into the body. Oh. Well this is what I did to make it a bit safer for my paint job. All I needed was my trusty Micro. It's still pretty tight but that's a good thing (that's not what I meant 🤭) because.....it looks better when there's no gap. It worked. Slid right in like your foot in your Apex sneakers. Thanks for looking, time for coffee. Edited August 5 by customline 3 1
Zippi Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Just takes the right size shoehorn to get that puppy in there Jim 😁 Looking good.
customline Posted August 5 Author Posted August 5 Thanks, Bob. You should have heard me the first time I tried to put it in there. The neighbors did.🤣 1

espo Posted August 5 Posted August 5 I'll have to remember your interior installation trick when I build this same model.

Remember, Dave, I deviated from the instructions. Because I'm averse to gluing two painted things together, I, naturally, attached the firewall and the inner fenders to the "carcass" 😅. That got me in trouble later on, Dave, so this thing I did was a workaround for that 🥴. But I suppose you could build it their way, Dave. 1

beeRS Posted Monday at 04:58 AM Posted Monday at 04:58 AM Looks absolutely fantastic. Some of those mock up pics look almost 1:1. Is that the kit supplied grille?

NOBLNG Posted Monday at 02:12 PM Posted Monday at 02:12 PM That is looking really great Jim!😎 I may just have to pick up one of these kits yet.🤔

A 3 oz. can of Tamiya clear gloss cost me $9.25, The red was $7.75. Primer runs around $12.00. $13 for the kit is a fantastic bargain. I know, you don't have Ollie's. It's a decent kit, Greg. There's some tedious scraping and sanding of the gluing surfaces of all that chrome but it's worth the trouble. The motorcycle fenders are a cool element that doesn't show up very often in kits. I dunno, Greg, I like it and I may try to grab one today (I need more coffee 😏). 1

customline Posted yesterday at 12:39 AM Author Posted yesterday at 12:39 AM FYI : I did pick up another one today. 🥴 Yup, they still had 'em. This one will most likely be spread around a few projects at Jimbo's chop shop.
