stitchdup Posted August 25 Posted August 25 love makes people act strangely, theres nothing rational about it. if he did it right he'd stick em on ebay for 500 each then he's trying to sell them, honest 1
Brudda Posted August 25 Posted August 25 None of this made any sense to me also. I asked him ( are you absolutely sure you want to do this?) the also terrible part is that he built this really cool 2 story shed ( more like a small house) that had a lot of models in there. And a beautiful bench with all of his tools. I was called last night and he wants me to buy the Fujimi sports car models. Of course I said yes. So I’ll have a small collection of those also. $5 each. The shed will be turned into something else. Poor Phil, it’s not looking good for his modeling .
Brudda Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Mike buddy, if there was an Aston in there I would just give it to you. I have given away so many models. I just gave away a tamiya f1 kit to a friend that completed his 1/20 collection. Carl ( Slusher) I gave him a Jo-Han kit not long ago. I just gave away a few 1/8 very expensive kits to guys who didn’t have much. We have a small group of young modelers at our club and all of us give them models. I just gave away 2 1/32 f-86 jets to a couple of kids in our club. So making a little on kits but giving them away to kids that cannot afford it, it’s rewarding . Another story, the local police and sheriff dept for some reason had a whole wherehouse of plastic model kits . They get toys donated every year at Christmas, but the kids do not want models for some reason. So the kits were getting overwhelming. Like a wherehouse full. Over years. They came to our club and asked us if we wanted them. We took them and put them at everyone s houses. For a few years we had a great raffle drawing. Brought in a lot of money to our club. We had veterans builds for free, Kids free builds. Things like that. Sometimes things come to you in this hobby. Plus you get to meet a bunch of great people. 3
mk11 Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Interesting... all this time I avoided this thread, thinking it was by/for high school girls 🤣 3
WillyBilly Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Stop looking for one, and the price will drop. 😉 I like to think of myself as a problem solver.🤣 1

Much to my surprise the lowest price that I could find is $ 160.54 Highest $318.25 free shipping from Japan. I have nothing even close to in my stash to make a reasonable offer. Why are these kits so,so expensive? Mike That doesn’t sound too bad…a guy on Kijijii wants $80.00 for these “vintage” model supplies.😳 3
jaymcminn Posted Sunday at 04:31 PM Posted Sunday at 04:31 PM High-demand, high-quality kit that was only issued once. I looked at Ebay prices after I started building the one I've had in my stash for 10+ years... I made sure to be extra careful. 3

Same kit with vintage added for flavor.
Bugatti Fan Posted Monday at 07:20 AM Posted Monday at 07:20 AM Tamiya might well reissue the Aston at some time, considering the tooling costs and it there looks to be a real demand for it.
stitchdup Posted Monday at 07:37 AM Posted Monday at 07:37 AM theres one in th trade section just now

Mike 1017 Posted Monday at 04:39 PM Author Posted Monday at 04:39 PM I might desecrate my non- diecast model collection and buy this Amazon.com: Motormax Aston Martin DB11 1/24 Scale Diecast Model Car 79345 : Arts, Crafts & Sewing
Bugatti Fan Posted Monday at 06:28 PM Posted Monday at 06:28 PM That die cast AM looks good Mike. Chris V. Agreed. The corporate bean counters at the car factories don't exactly do the model maker any favours !
