Since I’m working out of town I figured I would attempt another Porsche 911. Sunday 9/21/25, just cleaning up mold lines, which are mostly hidden under the rear wing and bumper and the front fenders.  But, I got time…

Time well spent, working away requires discipline. Model building helps, I have even brought kits, parts with me to overnight conferences.

Being away from home does have challenges, I'm only going back home every other weekend right now. Not having my model equipment is a challenge also. But I can build a travel box pretty easily. Every time I reach for something a write it down to see if I can bring it with me or purchase a new. My son Dylan gave me this Milwaukee Packout for a travel kit and there is most always a hobby shop nearby. More on the 911 to come...

Great start. Good idea to get some hobby time in whilst away.
I tried this once and it seemed every time I needed a particular tool it was the one I didn’t pack. Also, I found lighting in hotel rooms to be a bit challenging.

Hey There.....

I thought you'd gotten the traveling out of your system!!!! 😉    Good to see you've got something to keep you occupied.   Look forward to seeing the progress.  Will try to keep up.

This afternoon I finished cleaning up the body, removing the mold seams and priming. I purchased a 100w two pin bulb so I can see better. Hotel lighting is terrible. Up next will be chassis cleanup.IMG_1723.jpeg.2af34d6b8c12f5227212370926d27475.jpegIMG_1724.jpeg.245be9467a19b6cf34d596e70f041e75.jpeg

This is gonna be cool!

And I have a very small travel kit setup, I need to get a few more things to keep in my suitcase for building when I travel for extended periods of time.  Usually I hobby shop when out on the road. I keep enough space in my suit case (I have a hardside) to allow for 2-4 kits and a few random odds and ends.

I am glad to see that there are more of us who build when we are at the hotel!

That's an excellent start, James. Nothing worse than packing and unpacking your models and supplies, but we do it anyway! Long live styrene!

I'm actually in a Staybridge Suite. I'll be here on this job for months, so I won't need to pack that often. Two weeks at a time home every other weekend. That middle weekend is the toughest!
