Technics Posted September 23 Posted September 23 (edited) Model - Blasphemi 1955 Chevy Gasser - A Roadkill Motor Trend Inspired Build - Monogram 1:24 An intimidating project as it was the second model I "cut" into first being the Lancia Stratos with the GP Modelling transkit. Modifications - Exterior Trim removed Plenty sanding, trimming, and hacking throughout Clamshell created by fusing hood to fenders and cutting it out Firewall from Styrene ( A first to scratch build something ) Stance quite a lot of work to get it to sit the way it does Hemi Motor and Radiator from Ghostman 3D Parts fused to stock transmission Pros Probably my most difficult project this far, even if its less detailed then others. Really happy with overall feeling, the roof finish, the soot, tire texture, the stance. First time creating a stencil via a cricut plotter and making a mask for the side. Weird quirk that worked out nicely - tennis balls from cotton swabs. Cons Could be significantly more detailed wiring, plumbing , etc. Could have a more shaded and varied body finish. Some trim remains Not perfect fit clamshell Build Thread - Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/scale_technics Edited September 23 by Technics 4
Zippi Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Great looking build of Mike Finnegan's famous 55 Chevy Gasser Blasphemi. 1
M W Elky Posted September 23 Posted September 23 The tennis balls just make it whatever color paint you used they look like the real thing 1
ybsluos Posted Thursday at 05:11 AM Posted Thursday at 05:11 AM Really nice workmanship on the bodywork and firewall! Keep up the great scratch building. You are on your way to being a force to be reckoned with! Very accurate depiction of Finnegan’s car. -Mark 1
Mattilacken Posted Thursday at 07:24 AM Posted Thursday at 07:24 AM Came out great! Looks just as cool as Mikes 1:1! What’s the box for? 1
Technics Posted Thursday at 07:31 AM Author Posted Thursday at 07:31 AM (edited) @Mattilacken Storage and transport! I can´t look at my finished projects I have no display of any kind. Tired seeing it, only see mistakes and things I could have done instead, etc. ( I have a problem ) Open it and enjoy with a coffee every 12 months @ybsluos @PappyD340 @M W Elky @Zippi @ChrisR Thanks everyone! Maurice Henderson Posted Friday at 08:17 AM Posted Friday at 08:17 AM Bro, I've had this car in my mind to build..You did an outstanding job on rendering your take of the real car..Slixx Decals has a decal sheet with Blasthemi name on it that will enhance your build even more..Job well done my friend. 1
Technics Posted Sunday at 05:56 PM Author Posted Sunday at 05:56 PM (edited) @M W Elky Thanks alot! After a few different paint experiments it ended up being Revell ENAMEL 312 Luminous Yellow. The cotton ends of q tips which I formed into balls remain to have a very fine “hair” in appearance just enough texture to trick the eye to remind you of the 1:1 ballz. 😆 I’m super pleased. Goose1957 Posted Sunday at 10:31 PM Posted Sunday at 10:31 PM Very nice rendition. I just watched/followed the real car on Drag Week, as it came through my area all week (southcentral PA). Was wild watching him try to control the wheelies all week with it. Didn't get to watch the racing in person, but watched the parade drive through my area and watch the 1320 coverage each day. Great looking model. Jeff 1
