Decent kit, $20 with tax is not a bad place to start. 

Are there any kits out there circulating now that would be credible 2WD donors for the front suspension?

I've seen these popping up on forums on Facebook and the jeep cj7 with new decals as well,people are upset it`s a walmart USA only deal and lots of Walmarts don`t sell model kits.Surprised they haven`t been popping up on Ebay yet.

That kit is gonna get very popular because of those decals. That stripe scheme is super popular right now. Just google GM desert fox and at least a dozen different trucks with a variation of those stripes will show up.

This was the original special edition truck those stripes came on from back in '79.

It's certainly a lot more attractive packaging then the last go-around of the kit. I still have one of the reissues unbuilt but I'd buy that one because of the decals.

Someone resin casts the original 2WD front suspension from the '78 but the suspension from the AMT Chevy vans would be correct and can be adapted with some work. 

Neither one gets the kit low enough for me without modifications though.😈

Oh, 2X on that. Is there a 3D chassis out there that would do the trick? Seems like a layup.

IIRC, there's a couple generic ones out there. Steve-O keeps offering to set me up with one and I'm gonna take him up on it when I get that MPC snap '75 Blazer.

Much like building one of these real show trucks, I'd just use the body and interior and swap out the whole custom chassis.

I looked at the Foose Ford chassis when I built my Sour Apple '74 but the amount of mods to adapt it to the newer layout would taken as long or longer then the route I went in with no real advantages in the end.

I'd try the Revell '64 or '65 Chevy truck for the front suspension.

Notice the Box Bottom shows the smaller, regular sized rims, but they are not on the chrome tree.

The Decals are great!

I hope the Sundowner and the CJ-5 Make it to normal mail order sometime.

Those are the tires?  (Bottom of the photo).   The Deserter has two sets of wheels on the chrome tree.

Talked with our local store manager, and after the last two times of their handling models (they came in on a "display pallet" and were OVERLOADED with Coke-41-Plymouths) where the management weren't left with a "pick-and-choose" inventory, a HUGE AMOUNT of the display (primarily those Plymouths) were stuck on the Clearance-Shelf (not a money maker for their store).   Thus, management told me, (as kindly as he could) that as long as he had anything to say about it, they would not be handling any more models.......😒      I can understand, I bought a half a dozen of those 41's just because they got down to $4 each.....

Thanks - looks great - but $30 is half again more than the kit.

While it's true that a good '78 (2WD) builder is an easy $75 on a show table, that would be a one-and-done for me.

Did you try the Foose chassis against '60 or '63 Ford... or any of the Mobys?

No, I haven't. I would think it wouldn't be too hard to do though. I know people have been using the stock AMT and Revell [old kit] '53-'56 chassis under the '60 so it sounds plausible.
