I think a kit of the first gen Scout would be a great seller, maybe in resin as I don't know if it would be as popular as the Revell first gen Bronco has been, but one can dream!

No, this is an AMC 258ci, which was an optional engine in the later years. Edited April 13, 2018 by kataranga
Jordan White Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 I keep forgetting that the gasoline I6 was an option, I never really see much mention of it.
Fabrux Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 I'm a dork for inline 6 engines and incorporate them whenever I can. ?
mikemodeler Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 I saw a Scout Terra yesterday here in Charlotte, might have to pick up a couple of these kits and build one!

Fabrux Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 I guess I need to find the older style grille to make my truck accurate! ?
stavanzer Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 I cannot wait until this finally hits the market. Beach Patrol/Lifeguard truck, here I come.

stavanzer Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 I saw that, myself. Great news if it really is coming. Not much in the way of options in the kit, but maybe we'll get a choice of Stock or Custom grilles. And hopefully some nifty decals.
stavanzer Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Our own Casey has the instruction sheet for this kit. http://modelkitreviews.proboards.com/thread/361/ertl-8030-international-scout-ss Looks like it may have two sets of rims, and some neat seats. Going to be a great kit!
Rob Hall Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 (edited) I have the AMT release from the 2000s w/ the roof, this will be a nice variant to have also. Edited June 25, 2018 by Rob Hall
stavanzer Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Now, if only we could get somebody to do a Resin "Half-Cab" for it. This will be great next to the Revell Bronco.

That would be great, but only if the stock version of the kit is offered, half cab wouldn't look right on the off road version.
stavanzer Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Well, to my eyes, a half cab with the roadster doors is a perfect look. But, that is my taste. Not all will share it. I'll be combining one of these roadster with a full hardtop for another build, so to me there exist many options for this kit. Now to get a Baywatch Toyota kit, to scavenge parts and decals from. This roadster Scout looks like the perfect 1970's Lifeguard Unit.

I sure hope that is the kit they release! I want to make a copy of that scout that was used in the Movie Hooper! That movie had Burt R, Sally F, Brian K, James Best, Jan Michale Vincent, and more.
stavanzer Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 Yeah, James I know that. All I really want are the decals and rescue gear.
PacificEd Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 A Baja SSII race truck is high on my list of versions to build, probably one like Sherman Balch raced. For inspiration, go buy the Scout Encyclopedia book that was published about two years ago. It is full of images of the SSII's.
suprafastcelica Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 Just wanted to let you know i found 2 at hobby lobby last weekend. I bought them both. Might fine them out and about. I thought it was a September release.
stavanzer Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 So open it already! LOL. WE Wanna see what's in it!
suprafastcelica Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 To be honest, its a very simple kit. Only 53 pieces. Even though its simple I'm sure some of the higher skilled modelers will do amazing things with this kit.
Jordan White Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 It's too bad that the Scout II isn't one of those subjects where a new tool with more pieces and more detail is a consideration. It's one of my favorite off-road vehicles and the AMT kit doesn't do it justice, especially under the hood.
