Jon Cole Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 (edited) Thought I would share these. Hope someone builds it. Edited November 22, 2009 by Spyder
MrObsessive Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Section an inch or two out of the middle of the body (it still looks "fat" to me), make it a true hardtop, and I'd be all over it!
Zoom Zoom Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 It's neat, but compromised by the tacked-on nature of some of the "Daytona" parts. A model builder could get away with murder on this thing and not be so constrained by "production reality" Just sayin'... The basics are there...you could section the body, integrate the side fork & hood details, and end up w/a real stunner that blows away the 1:1.
Nate Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Wouldn't it be more appropriate to do this conversion to one of the new Chargers, since the Daytonas were Chargers not Challengers?
VW Dave Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Wouldn't it be more appropriate to do this conversion to one of the new Chargers, since the Daytonas were Chargers not Challengers? In theory, yes....but the new Chargers have too many doors.
Joe Handley Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 (edited) Wouldn't it be more appropriate to do this conversion to one of the new Chargers, since the Daytonas were Chargers not Challengers? Yea, it would make more sense and I don't think the extra doors would throw it off too much (maybe paint it dark blue or black), only they need leave off the sun roof all those stupid looking scoops and quad tail pipe tips off the car Edited November 19, 2009 by Joe Handley
jbwelda Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 >It's neat, but compromised by the tacked-on nature of some of the "Daytona" parts. but the originals looked mega tacked-on too so in that way its true to form. i like it, better than the original i think, judging from just these photos.
Janne Herajärvi Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 I just changed my screen backround That looks great. Now who makes first model from that?
JayC Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 That car looks amazing! I think it would be a hit if it was actually produced.
george 53 Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 The front of it looks TOO much like a "face" with the headlight blackout and the "grinning"grille. Remindes me too much of them weird lookin jap thingies. No thanks,I'm just too old school it think.
B_rad88 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 (edited) oh, i found a pic of the "daytona" you posted in the works. lol. well, since no one else posted them, i will! well they did make 2door conversions for the dodge charger! but there was a problem with them, people got confused with them, because of the "cross" platform crossover! since the chassis and platform of the challenger is a choped version of the chargers chassis, but yeah, they did make them, and there is conversions for it now! its not that hard to do, i think. and it would look better as the charger with the "Daytona" body kit than the challenger would, i think they should have kept there promise to delever that "plymouth cuda" from the challenger body, like it was back in the day, but chrysler pulled the plug, before the cuda was launched! remember when they promised us this: well never see this again, unless its a conversion! B_rad88 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 and oh yeah chrysler, came out with this thing: and then they came out with the "superbird" version
B_rad88 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 oh and i can't for get, i want this: the dodge challenger srt-10! with the viper engine, lol! and i found this UGLY thing too, some one used a chrysler 300c to make this:
vizio93 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 oh and i can't for get, i want this: the dodge challenger srt-10! with the viper engine, lol! Ooooooo i likey
Blake Rogers Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Wouldn't it be more appropriate to do this conversion to one of the new Chargers, since the Daytonas were Chargers not Challengers? good point nate i heard talk of them bringing the Daytona back in mopar action but that was it just talk
Blake Rogers Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 my sister-in-law has a new Dodge Charger Daytona and i couldn't imagine that thing made even longer with an extended nose or the rear wing. the new Chargers are big cars, not something i'd want to see made to look anything like the original Daytona. Dodge made Daytona trucks too i like the concept of using the Challenger body for a Daytona, i really like the pictures above. very cool seeing alot of Superbird touches as well. Dave ya the trucks were junk lol big fake wing on the box lol i saw one back home used as a work truck...
