Or even one that made the biggest impact on your childhood?

I did my first model way back when I was about 11 or 12. It was Revell's 1/570 RMS Titanic. When I put it together I glued it first and then painted it. What a mistake that was! I remember I kept braking the propellers, so I just cut out pieces of paper in the same shape. I then painted them and glued them on. The masts didn't fare too well, either. :D I kept having to glue them back together, too. A couple years ago I threw out all my old models that I built when I was younger except a few that were in better condition. I probably had about 20-30 that went out in the trash.

I built the Titanic too. Sunk it in the pool with cherry bombs.

Revells first issue of the 1/32nd scale 56? Chrysler New Yorker. On April 1st, 1959, given to me by my Big Brudder Art.

Even tried to build it again almost 50 years later with not too much improvement I REALLY dislike those multi-peice bodies!!!:lol::lol:

I was about 7 when I started. I can't remember which was first but I had an Airfix 1/32 Beetle brush painted yellow with lots of decals!, an AMT 65 Impala, and an AMT 64 GTO. My dad built models and I was crazy about them. He eventually quit but I kept going! He lost his collection in a garage fire in '76. He only collected annuals and some vintage cars. He had many of the original AMT '58s and lots of annuals through the early 70s, all built stock. It was quite a shame.

When I was a kid, my friends and I would build models, then go in the back yard and crash them and set them on fire. Styrene burns real good!

I have no idea what the first model I built was, but I'm sure it got melted into a gooey heap very soon after I finished it.

When I was six years old dad started bringing home the 59 and 60 Jo-Han Kits for a father and son thing. The kits were so simple I was soon putting them together myself, but without paint. I don't remember which one was first.

Be nice to still have them. ;)

I'm 60 years old, and I can't say I remember the very first model I ever built. I do remember the kit that got me into building car models. It was an AMT 1958 Imperial, one of the first 3 in 1 customizing kits. Those kits were simple - one piece body, one piece interior, no engine, screws through the chassis held it all together. Not much gluing required. I put it together myself when I was about 9 years old. I think that success inspired me to build more models. I still have the grille and bumpers from the Imperial in my ancient part boxes! I don't remember where the rest of it went!

My first car kit was a Revell/Amt 1955 Buick. Built it some time in 1955. It was molded in red plastic and I painted it white (no Primer) with a brush. Think about that one for awhile!!.....yck!! ;)

My first glue kit (after a couple years of snap kits) was the Revell '56 Chevy 2dr sedan 'Bad Dream' kit in 1978. Still have it, in all it's overglued, brush painted glory.

I think I started out with some 1/32 scale snaps.

Brush painted with Testors bottle paint.

Oldest I still have is a toss up between the

MPC Dodge RamVan (built when it first came out, 198_?)

First model I realized rolling wheels aren't that great.

It took me 8 months to finish

Still does too. ;)

crashed twice, rear wing is still around (should put it back on one day)

My first "model" was an old B 52 kit had about 8 pieces not including the stand, the first car that I did was an AMT '59 Impala, just glued the pieces together screwed the chassis on & there it sat until it was turned into a pull toy for stock car racing in the back yard. The next one was another AMT kit, this time the '59 Pontiac Bonneville, this one faired much better it was a model of my neighbors car, & was actually painted to match (with a big old messy brush) & was given away as a present to the neighbor. Still going, 50 years later. (me that is , not the model)

My first EVER model was an Airfix B17 Flying Fortress. I wanted it because the box art was fantastic. Guns blazing, Me109s attacking, bombs dropping and enemy aircraft plummeting to earth. Even the B17 had an engine on fire.

Roy Cross was the box artist and his box art was what sold me that kit. Was pretty good to with every turret working, wheels retracting, just about everything was operational except the bomb bay.

My First Car kit, well, how about a 1/35 Tamiya Kubelwagen. Hot rodded and painted metallic pink(red, white mixed with silver) My first proper rod kit? Rommel's Rod! but thats another story
