Fisher61 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Just finished my first build of 2010. AMT '57 Chevy kit [old tool dating back to '62]. I added the photo etch detail set from Model Car Garage, fuel injection from the Revell Black Widow kit. Painted with Duplicolor silver. Thanks for looking!
vizio93 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Wow what a nice looking clean build !!! Looks like she just drove of the showroom floor
Dave Darby Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Looking good! Having built a few of those (including the box art for the Chevrolet Classics 3 car set back in '95), I know that kit is a challenge to build. You did it proud.
randx0 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Wait you can build a 57 chevy stock? you've done an excellent job I like the colors very much.
Greg Cullinan Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 William she looks beautiful finished, saw that coming from your workbench thread.Congratulations you have a very clean ride. Thanks
RatRod Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 She's a beauty!!! Maybe not a color combination that they would have done in '57, but I love it!!! I think this kit still rivals with anything out there.

RatRod Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Well then, call me wrong!!! I was born in '58, but don't remember anything that flashy, of course I was just a baby....right?
Fisher61 Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 Well then, call me wrong!!! I was born in '58, but don't remember anything that flashy, of course I was just a baby....right? Don't sweat it John! I'm sure this was a rare sight back in '58, it seems most cars back then were some sort of pastel color, and these metallics were sort of in their infancy yet, buyers might have been a little scared of something new!
bsoder Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 That looks great in silver!..and the interior color really sets it off
lordairgtar Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Very nice car. How hard was it to remove the hood trim bar from the grille casting? IIRC that was all one piece.
Fisher61 Posted January 10, 2010 Author Posted January 10, 2010 Very nice car. How hard was it to remove the hood trim bar from the grille casting? IIRC that was all one piece. Thanks for all the positive comments everyone! The hood trim came off very easily and cleanly. I used a razor saw to cut it to the hood width first, the cut it from the grill with the backside of a #11 blade, from the grill side. I sanded the cuts smooth, BMF'd the bottom of the hood bar, [i probably could have painted it black],painted the grill gold and gave it a black wash.
Sixties Sam Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Very nice job on a true classic! It looks good in silver. Sam
charlie8575 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Looks great. The end product is spectacular. Charlie Larkin
