Eero Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) This build is one of my numerous VW Beetle based models. I used mainly Tamiya kit but I also took some parts from Mr Hobby kit. Whole bed is scratch built. I tried to create a look how these kind of little pickups were in Finland at 50's and 60's. So there isn't much luxury. That logo in the door is creation of my own imagination. It says "Fruits and vegetables of Karapolvi" ...Karapolvi is my home address. Edited February 1, 2010 by Eero
Randy Kern Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Wow, what a cool model! That turned out beautiful. Great work, and sanitary clean building. This would make a neat resin kit!
Modelmartin Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Nicely done. Very clean and well-detailed. It is a superb build.
diymirage Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 looking good but not a true original here is mine (started it last year, hoping to finish it this year) and hitler started the KDF project in 1938 that build factory VW pickups that looked much like yers
jeffs396 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Got excited when I saw your title expecting a water-cooled VW pickup based on the AMT Rabbit, but your air-cooled is very nice! Welcome to the site BTW!
Zoom Zoom Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 That is one incredibly cool model! Nice work
Jon Cole Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) Eero, nice job on the BugBed! Here is some 1:1 bug pickups in various forms: I probably have more... but I don't know what the photo limit is here. That build of yours is so smirk! I want to add it to my "Models-Misc" file! VW Dave Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) Very clean and imaginative build...it looks 'right' as you've done it, like a factory job. I really like the engine access panel(with Bus handle), tailgate logo, and the rear fender stoneguards. Edited February 2, 2010 by VW Dave
Casey Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Clean paint, crisp details, and beautiful overall look. Very nice work.
