stump Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Bill, I only just noticed, they have your name misspelled....WOWk Dunno how that "k" got on the end there.....may want to get Harry to sort it for you. Seriously though, this is shaping up extremely well mate, as Bob said, that dash alone......it IS a model.
Codi Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Simply superb Bill....a top of the line build if ever there was one. Congratulations. Cheers, Tim
Biggie Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Love the big scale and love your model making skills! Amazing work Regards, Rok
ewaskew Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 As Chad said any updates? I saw this a long time ago and lost track of you Bill. This is the best scratch building I have seen anywhere. Now I plan on following this till you finish it. My scratch building has got better and your detail work on this one will help me build a 1/12 using what I see you do to yours. God Bless
Ralph Torres Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Wow Bill you allways IMPRESS... your in a whole new level above most of us... amazing work my friend..
bill w Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 First I apologize for the bad photography, I need a lot of practice. I molded some parts that turned into a disaster. The paint I used to paint my parts inhibited the RTV, it didn't cure where it contacted the paint, the other side which primed came out fine, needless too say the mold is useless. The parts that got destroyed are the headliner and carpeting, although I was able to glue the carpeting back together, The headliner is a total loss, just have too start over. Here are some pics. Hosted on Fotki These are lenses for the gages, shifter, mirrors, and radio. Hosted on Fotki The carpet glued back together. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
ImpalaBoy Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 You said early on that you were planning to make a kit. Do you have any idea at this point how much you might end up selling them for?
bill w Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 You said early on that you were planning to make a kit. Do you have any idea at this point how much you might end up selling them for? At this time it's to soon to think about. I need to finish the model first. The plan still is to make a kit.
jaftygas Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Hey Bill don't let anybody buy one of those things. Me first and I'm pretty sure my bank will give me the money if you got titles.
bill w Posted January 13, 2018 Author Posted January 13, 2018 It's been some time since I posted...life seems to get in the way. I've been working on the Camaro every chance I get, almost finished, but deciding on which chrome paint to use. I think I've tried them all and they all seem the same as far as finish goes, not much difference between them. Anyway here are some pics. LDO Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 Very impressive. Good to see you posting again. I would also like to get in line for a kit. Maybe body only, though. I wouldn't be able to resist going pro/street.
RAT-T Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 HEY BILL, GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU. HAVEN'T SEEN PICS OF THIS SINCE LSM. THE PAINT LOOKS VERY NICE

Anglia105E Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 The whole concept of a 100% scratch built scale model car is model building on a very high level. Absolutley fascinating to follow your progress. I found myself moulding and casting so many parts for a 1:24 Rolls-Royce about a year ago now, that I began to think in terms of making a boxed kit, complete with my own box art. Further down the line I realised that even if I did manage to mould and cast every part of the scale model car the obvious question would be, what do I do with the finished product? One kit in one box.... where do you go from there? Also, the cost involved to produce that one model meant that the project was never going to be cost effective, not that I fully understand the money side of it all. It was something that I wanted to do, and therefore didn't really see it as a marketable product. David
triplelindy Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 Bill I recall you saying you have a 1/1 69 Camaro. I would like to see some pics of that if possible. If your HAND BUILT scale model is this impressive,I can only imagine how nice your real car would be.
bill w Posted January 14, 2018 Author Posted January 14, 2018 To Lee, I'm still thinking of a kit, I made a mold of the body and tried casting it, I did get 5 shots before the mold turned to junk. The parts are less than good, but I will try and make another mold a bit different and see what happens. To Tom, thanks, I tried to visit LSM but it didn't seem like anyone has been there for years. To Rafael, I painted it about 5 months ago. I'm not 100% happy with the finish, it has some bug feet and dust, but sometimes you get that when you paint in your garage. To Henry, you're welcome anytime... but I think there is a bit of distance between us. To David, I started this project just too see if I can do it. Before I built cars I was into RC airplanes. I funded my hobby by selling what I built. The last plane I built was 7 1/2 foot F4 Phantom Jet that I scratch built. I was always a car guy... so I decided too try a car. It is a lot more difficult! As for the cost... it was a gradual buildup as time went on. I don't think I would get my investment back. To Mike, I bought a basket case 69 Camaro for measuring and details. I didn't restore it... sold it when it was no longer needed. Here's a pic. Hosted on Fotki
