Modelmartin Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I was perusing an old Car Craft magazine from May 1962 and found this in the AMT Winternationals model contest coverage. Do you still have the model, Dave?

Harry P. Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 1962? I was barely out of training pants!!!
Foxer Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 hehe I was just building a stock Double Dragster I expect, though I MUST have swapped a couple parts from the bins. and I'm sure I had that issue ...
James Flowers Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 It always amazed me the customs they came up with back then. The body work alone was amazing with what they had to work with back then. I wonder how many of those customs are still around today?
Eric Stone Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Feel old yet, Dave? If not, then how bout this- My dad was only 12 years old in '62...
MADD FABRICATOR Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 You haven't lived until you had to glue the outer fender panels to the main body section and then do all you customizing work with a laquar based paste called " Plastic Wood", which then tended to melt those outer body panels if applied too thick. But then I digress back to the mid to late 50's. Darn, I'm getting older than I think. Modelers today tend to be just a bit spoiled with all the after market resin cast and photo etched goodies, but hey that's what progress is all about, isn't it ? Enjoy life and HAPPY modeling, CHEERZZZZ !!!!!!! MADD FABRICATOR
LVZ2881 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 So this post is just to make Dave feel old!?!?!? Ok,I'll bite... my mom was 7 in '62 I'm 32
MrObsessive Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I was all of 7 months old in May of '62! Models for me would be another 16 years away! The only car I could relate to (and that would take some time) would be my Dad's '55 Plymouth Savoy 2 dr. I probably got all kinds of toy cars as a toddler then--------all of them long gone.
