gray07 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I have had people ask me why i dont post pictures of models that i build, i will tell you, i have been building for along time but iam not perfect, i have always painted my chrome because i have never used bmf so i dont know how. I look on here and see these models that ya build and i know mine are not that good not like yours. You guys build excellent models way better than i could. So keep building i love looking at them.
Jordan White Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Don't be like that, not everyone here is a pro model builder. Heck, not everyone here uses BMF (I don't, I just use silver paint for trim or paint the chrome). We're all here to help one another build better models, and if you don't post any pictures, we won't get to see your projects! Nor will we be able to accurately help you with any issues you may have.
Corvette.Jeff Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 post em up man! i usually strip the chrome off because i dont like the way it looks, and i always use silver paint, and everyone here knows im not a good builder, so post up some pictures man!
James Flowers Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Not everybody uses bare metal foil here. Not every ones models are perfect here either. No one here is going to put your models down or make fun of them. They will help you any way they can. Do not let that keep you from posting pictures. People here learn some thing from every picture on here. That is what it is all about. So post away.
JamesW Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 What they said. We're all here for the same reason, for the love of models. It doesn't matter how good or bad your builds are. In my opinion, there's no such thing as a bad build, everyone has their own style. If you ever do decide to try using BMF, it's really not hard to use, but it will take a few tries to get it right and find your "groove".
Guest Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Post em! I have seen painted trim look better than foil. Foiling is far easier tho than painting trim. We definatly want to see your work, foil or painmted trim!!
nails3825 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I find that posting my finished models on here gives me motivation to better myself... try to do the best I can instead of slapping a model together. We are all still learning new methods, tips and ideas ~ a little criticism goes a long way, each model you build gets better because of it. Nobody will shoot you down here, at least I don't think so... they just give helpful tips to better yourself. I wouldn't worry too much about "not being good enough" because every one of us builds differently, and we all have room for improvement When I'm viewing other builds on here I'm always finding something that makes me ask "how did he do that" and I learn from that... you may have something you're doing too, that others can learn from. You never know ~ so I say post away!
crazyjim Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I used to paint the chrome trim but find that BMF is easier. you can remove it and do it over if it gets messed up. Try that with paint. I've always used rattle cans but have recently moved over to an airbrush. I build for me and not contests and every kit is a new adventure. Get your pics posted!!
disabled modeler Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I have never used BMF on any of my builds to date, I paint the chrome trim with a fine pointed tool from cut parts sprue tree. Mine are not as good as some I have seen here but will post photos of them when I figure it all out. All you have to do is be happy with you builds(yourself)....Your not building them for others? If your fairly happy with the build and had fun building them...thats all that matters. I personally would love to see them! For one I might learn or get an idea from them for my own builds? Post them if you can! We all would love to see them..... Mark
Eshaver Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I'm sorry that some of these so called First rate builders intimidate you there Gray ......... Ed Shaver
george 53 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Jord, don't let THAT stop you, heck some of the guys here can't paint a straight line, yet THEY post!!! The QUALITY of your work will NEVER be critisized(UNLESS you ASK for it) but it's the participation that counts! I Don't EVER post pics(have you noticed?) and HAVE been critisized for it, but I'm STILL HERE! Posting IS NOT a requirement to join this forum. When you feel comfortable with your abilities, POST AWAY!!!!! Till then, enjoy all the others work, caz THEY did in building them, and YOU can in seeing them!!!
Joe Nunes Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Well...I don't post pics because my builds are SLOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW !!! And, quite frankly, the real reason is I don't like to fool around with the use of another photo site just to post on this forum. On one of the R/C model plane forums I got to alot we just upload from the camera...quick and easy. Don't toss 'maters either, guys...just kit boxes Joe

george 53 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Clay, YOU are THE ONLY ONE I'll accept critisizm from in this matter, because YOU have gone thru the trouble of even starting a Photo Thread to help me!!! You don't know HOW much THAT was appericiated! I CAN go from PB to the forum now, but my pics of the shows and AutoRama ore in my PERSONAL files, and I HAVEN'T figured out how to go from my personal photos to photo bucket!. BUT i'm tryin, and I WOULDN'T have gotten THIS far without YOU!!! THANKS! I gotta give credit where credit is due!
Harry P. Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 If you'd rather not post photos, that's fine! You can still be part of this place without posting.
elan Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I don't post photos because I never finish anything. I still enjoy learning from other builders.

Railfreak78 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 My trim always looks bad and interiors sometimes "fuzzy"
Foxer Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 You don't have to post photos of your builds, but this is one place you don't have to worry about it. I've been building since the late 50's.. with much time off in between and still can't lay a great paint job down.. and many other things. I have learned something new with every build and recently, it's all due to the help and encouragement here when I post a mistake or screw up. It has made me totally unafraid to post anything I've done. The best builders here are the most gracious and helpful!
Junkman Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 We are here for the fun of it and not to out-model each other. For the latter there are contests. I do not consider myself anywhere near the good ones on this here forum, but I would never hesitate to show what I make and I welcome all comments, be they positive or negative. One can only learn, And learn I did since I'm here. A lot. At this opportunity, a big thanks to all who helped to make me a better modeller.
