It's been on their website for months now, along w/the Ferrari 458 Italia, which is due in June. I think the information was presented on around New Years, and the website was updated on Feb. 4th. Can't wait for both...and many are looking forward to the DTM cars as well.

Indeed, Bob, most of the 2010 Revell Germany lineup was released to the public on January 1st 2010, but the Amg Mercedes SLS was announced at the Nürnberg trade show.

So I assume that the list that hit on Jan. 1 that had the SLS knew that it was in the pipeline, since the Feb. 4th announcement (I think) was at the time of the trade show? Regardless...bring it on, I love the SLS ;)

This is me, sitting in one of 8 SLS's in the country as of March 12th:

Cool..I haven't seen the SLS in person yet, but have seen them on TV as the safety cars in the 2010 F1 races..I read somewhere recently that a convertible version is coming for 2012.

If it is such old news, and you all know about it for months, then I wonder, why none of you have seen fit to post it here. I thought this is a model car forum???

This was the last time I posted anything I found out being announced by a manufacturer.

Back to ego boosting and cliquing, since this seems to be the only purpose of this forum anyway.

I saw it posted on the other forums a while back, pretty sure it's been posted here also. It's also been listed for preorder on a couple vendor sites for a month or two.

Rob Hall,

I have seen the new SLS at the Chicago Auto Show last February and it is on sweet looking car. While I don't really build foreign model cars, I may have to do this one. The rep at the show said that this car is priced in the 200K range.

Feb. 4, 2010 Announcements on this forum

It was posted immediately when it became known.

Here, have another look at Revell AG announcements previous to the show:

New Years Day announcements

They've been there to share with everyone here for months.

I have no idea how many there are in the country, but Mercedes must not have much to do with the ones they have on hand...they displayed one at the National Association of Fleet Administrators conference in Detroit this weekend...certainly nobody in Fleet is going to buy one. Even as an attention getter, it sent an odd message since the obsession in the Fleet world is being green/alternative technologies, not 200-mph gas guzzlers.

The guy who was in charge of the cars at Amelia Island (he was also in charge of the lone Maybach on display) was the one who told me (when I expressed surprise to see them there) that at the time there were 8 in the country at the time. They had the media and potential customers doing test drives. I have no idea how MB works their show/media presentations. There were at least 3 SLS's at the Amelia concours d'elegance.

Chris, the Internet is fast and as a result news soon becomes history, no more no less...

Ya...remember the olden days (i.e. 20 years ago) when you only found out about new releases when you found a kit in your LHS or read about them as coming in a magazine? Not that I'm sentimental about the past, but I do sometimes miss the surprise and delight of finding something new...

Pretty car. I might build one just because it's so cool.

Admitedly, I do like Mercedes, but this one is just pretty.

Mercedes-AMG has a "visualization" feature that allows you to play with colors and such.

You know, similar to "build your own" for us plebs!

so about the kit: does anyone know level of detail? i think it said skill level 3 but i couldnt see anywhere on the announcement page any details about, well, details. really kool looking car with those gull wing doors and all, would be nice to have opening doors on the kit.

oh and to the OP, i think youre taking it a bit hard. you at least brought the model to my attention, so thanks for that.
