Nick Winter Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 nick, ever since ive joined this forum all ive done is watch your skills impove very cool van! Thanks that stripe fought me a bit, actually the red was the only gloss color used the other two are primer.
MyBradKeselowski Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Good job, great looking van... Stripe looks good
Nick Winter Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks I Painted the stripe because the kit supplied decal, well, sucked.
sigmaman Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 That came out well. Havn't seen one of these in a long time.
RodneyBad Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Good looking Van, sure wish I still had my model of one. I always missed it was a 2-tone with stripe. kept thinking it was all black. Ya really know where to find the pics. Great work.. Warning!! don't put models in Bedroom window..
Greg Cullinan Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 That's a pretty good looking A-team van. Glad I came across this as I never noticed the gray in the two tone. Funny thing is I watched the show all the time about 25 years ago And I've been catching the reruns and saw the movie commercial and still didn't notice! And about a week ago I started shopping on E-bay for a kit (I've also been bitten by the van model bug, although I'm not into vans in real life )
David G. Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Excellent work, you're really developing a good eye for detail. In my opinion, a big part of building is learning how to "see" in the artistic sense. Seeing things more for what they are, than what we expect them to be. Seeing the planes, angles curves and colors as well as the subject as a whole. Some people excell at this naturally, but most can learn it through practice. Catching the two-tone paint on the van, while others missed it, is a good example of seeing something more for what it is than what's expected. Keep up the good work! David G.

nails3825 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Nice job! It's a little blurry but did you put B.A. in drivers seat? If so... sweet! This was one of my favorite shows growing up! Thanks for the memories
Jantrix Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Great work. Add a piece of clear packing tape over the printed licence plates and it'll give it a glossy reflective quality.
Jared Roach Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Never seen this build before, very cool build Nick and good job!
Rick Schmidt Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Always liked this van and I like your build of it. Ya know I don't remember the grey either?? I wonder was there a different Scheme later in the series that we remember??
Nick Winter Posted May 26, 2010 Author Posted May 26, 2010 Nope, but the grey did get darker later on, I built this one like the first time we see the van in season 1.
Chuck Most Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Thanks I Painted the stripe because the kit supplied decal, well, sucked. I've only built one A-Team van, and in my kit, ALL the decals sucked!
Nick Winter Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 Nice job Nick. Yea, the decals in the original version back in the '80's wern't any better, I painted the stripe on mine too. LOL Can't believe how many people say they didn't notice the grey though. LOL Now you need an early '80's 'Vette to make Face's white convertable. Yeah Face man got the Vette in '84 so I'm looking for the MPC '84 Vette.
Nick Winter Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 Doesn't have to be an '84. The one in this publicity still (I found bigger ones) says "Tuned Port Injection" on the mid-body join under the hood, making it an '85. It'd have the 3rd brake light behind over the rear hatch glass if it were an '86. Mark I'd like to build the one that first appeared, which was a '84, but I do realize what your getting at.
