Deckerz Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Hi, i was wondering if anybody has built this kit and if they could tell me the quality of it? So far in that fast and furious model iv had the charger and the eclipse, the charger was bad, very bad quality, the eclipse wasn't too bad, the only problem i remember is the body being slightly warped but other then that it was a good kit. So what should i expect...the doom and gloom quality that the charger had or the good quality that the eclipse had?
highway Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 So what should i expect...the doom and gloom quality that the charger had or the good quality that the eclipse had? If you have ever had an older issue of an MPC/AMT Camaro or Pontiac Trans Am kit, that is what you can expect from the Fast and Furious issue Camaro. If you want to build a nice F&F Yenko Camaro, get the Revell Yenko Camaro kit!
Eric Stone Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I don't know how that AMT kit is, but the Revell 69 Yenko is a nice kit, can't go wrong there.
highway Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 By the way, if you would like some pics of both the AMT F&F Camaro and Revell Yenko to compare, I have both kits. I (unfortunately) won the F&F Camaro at a show, I would have never spent good money on it!!

larrygre Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I concur with everyone here. There is precious little about the AMT ersatz F&F Camaro worth commenting on. The Revell kit is the best place to start.
Rick R Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 IIRC the F&F Camaro kit was originally the MPC 69 Camaro, which was modified to a short track car during the 70s then 'modified back' during the musclecar fad of the 80s. Bad job on the body though, front wheel wells too low, sloppy detailing and loose panel fits, poor quality control, even bad plating on some I've seem. Get the Revell unless you really want to replicate the Camaro as it landed on the boat at the end of the movie!
Casey Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) Does anyone have the AMT F&F kit and be willing to take and post a pics of the wheels? The wheels appear to be American Torque Thrust Ds with rounded spokes, instead of the peaked variety. For reference, these are the peaked TTDs which come in the Revell Yenko 427 '69 Camaro kit: Edited February 10, 2011 by Casey

I'm not sure Casey, I'll have to check the stash to see if I still have it, but I think I have one that I won at a show. If I do, I'll get the pic for you.

SuperStockAndy Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Well if it helps any, it had Cragar SS rims.
RickRollerLT1 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I vaguely recall this one, but from what I remember it was a heaping lump of horse shlock!!!! I got it at Michales many years ago for about $1.10 (sealed) with their 50% off coupon, and so far it's the worst clearence kit purchace i've gotten! (heck, even getting an opened AMT F&F Supra missing wheels and decals for .97 on final markdown was better than this) Nothing fit, the roof waz crappy looking - looks like someone at the MPC/Ertl drawing board got high on the "good stuff" while designing the roof & grile for this kit... The chassis was a throwaway and everything else was a mess including the decals that ALLWAYS desolve intoa jillion little peices! DO NOT WASTE YER DOUGH ON THIS KIT IF AN LHS OR ANY VENDOR/RETAILER HAS ONE, EVEN IF THEY CHARGE $30 OR EVEN $2... ITSA PIECE OF HEAP!!!! Instead, do your self a favor and get the fully accurate, newer tool Revell kit which is plenty avalible and can very very cheap if U look in the right places.
kobuzz Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Here is what they look like. Got this built up from an Ebay junk yard.
Draggon Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Wow, that looks as bad as the Monogram 69 Camaro, in its own "speshul" way
Casey Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Here is what they look like. Thanks, that's what I needed to see.
Chuck Most Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) Looks kind of stubby in the side view- maybe that's because the wheel arches seem a bit low and that top seems a bit too high... The '67 kit was way better- goes to show how out of it RC2 was. Edited February 11, 2011 by Count Chuckula
Tonioseven Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I used the Revell kit and Keith Marks decals for my version...
SuperStockAndy Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) That's awesome! What paint is that? Edited February 13, 2011 by Android
MikeMc Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Love the engine detail...... Puts this one over the top!!
