High octane Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Wow, just got the new(?)issue May/June of Model Cars in the mail today and it was intact for a change. On the top of page 6 are some decals for the new and also the vintage Challenger kits by Mike's Scale Speed Shop and they are really great. I bought mine a few months ago and the chrome is good and the decals are crisp and easy to read unlike some of the kit decals. Yes I DO recommend them.
crispy Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Checking in from MN.. I got mine as well today. Chris
highway Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I just got back from my LHS, no new issue yet there in Ohio.
peter31a Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Cool! That means I should have mine by the beginning of August. Checking the mailbox will become more exciting starting in a couple of weeks. Yay!
MikeMc Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Got mine on Thursday.....smooth as DCranky..............
David G. Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Got mine Thursday too. As always, it's well worth the wait.
crazyjim Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 I started a subscription on June 3, 2010 and haven't heard a word about getting my first issue.
Guest Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 A magazine should be in your hands BEFORE the cover month, not AFTER. This has been a problem since day 1 with MCM. I dont know what it will take to change things and see that the mag is out in the correct timing.

Change the cover.....I love it but only on time once.....better yet just forget the month...issue numbers only

I dont know what it will take to change things and see that the mag is out in the correct timing. Get rid of the month, and just go by the issue number. I'm sure it's probably illegal, or something, but hey... lots of things are, and we keep on just a doin' 'em!

Jairus Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 We did that two years ago and it worked for a short time until Gregg checked into getting the mag on Borders racks. They like dates on the stuff so the old issues can be returned and the new ones stocked. It was a requirement so the dates on the cover returned after about a half year of just using the issue number. Nice try. Only way to get the mag out before the printed month is to put a fire under Gregg. Harry has the layouts fairly current but there are a couple contributors and Gregg who are usually late in getting stuff in. Not likely to change so just accept it as a funky part of the hobby and be happy we have Gregg and MCM!

Apparently he wears asbestos shorts...
MikeMc Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Apparently he wears asbestos shorts... And asbestos flip flops......must be the volcano gods........
Jairus Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 It's called "Island Time", which means that it will get done when he feels like it and no sooner!
Guest Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Sorry, I diagree with the let's just be happy we have it sentiment. If you pulled this in the custom cabinetry business, your customers go elsewhere, the same in most ANY buisness. It is VERY unprofessional to be like this. I'm sorry, but if Gregg really cared about his subscribers and the hobby as much as he says, he would take the steps necessary to see MCM is out in a timely manner. I know of NO other magazine that is consistantly late.
crazyjim Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Instead of trying to light a fire, Harry, why not drop some coconuts?
sjordan2 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 (edited) I don't understand the comments that say go by the issue number, not the month. It's a no-brainer to do both, which would be of value. Anyway, this is a terrific issue. Kudos to the intelligence behind the cover, which contrasts an ultra-sleek stock build with a superb example of post-apocalyptic grunge. My two cents on another topic: Yes, heavy paper stock adds to the importance and value of a magazine, but I think you could go to a lighter weight stock, self-cover, to save printing and mailing costs, and use the savings to go 100% color. And you guys do a great job on your color work. Edited July 15, 2010 by sjordan2
