brett Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 wow!!! what else is there to say? Fantastic work as always John, a real pleasure to watch your builds ome together
1955chevy Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Wow! What a build. A real craftsman. How did you lower the suspension?
DRG Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Absolutely fantastic. You have more talent and skill in your baby finger than I have in my entire body and it's a rather large body at that.
AzTom Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Incredible! Looks like another show winner John. AzTom
W-409 Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Wow, your alcad work is amazing! How you make it to look like that? This is very interesting build, with your skills, this will be awesome looking when it's finished. It's nice to read and look how these are turning out.!
sjordan2 Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 This gets more astonishing with every post. All that putty work with no indication showing under the Alclad. Killer.
John Teresi Posted October 25, 2010 Author Posted October 25, 2010 Hello......I got the chassis just about assembled........wheels are on.......brake lines attached .......I`ll be working on the engine tonight........thank`s for looking.
Harry P. Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Question: The kit you're basing your conversion on has a very different body style than the Star of India. Are you going to modify the kit body, or leave it as is?
vaughn Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 The alclad is killer !! Body work..everything John. I'll just put mine back in the box. Looking great !!
oldscool Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Now this is model building! And fantastic painting too:D
Alyn Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Once again, the Alclad looks great, but the true measure of your skill is in the wheels. Taking the time and effort to build the multi-part assembly for a clean break between colors and textures is the type of thing that sets your builds apart. Can't wait to see this one in the sun with your also skillful camera work.
Jantrix Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Holy Shnikes! I'm just floored with the quality of work. There is a better gloss on that rear end then I've ever gotten on a model body. The bodywork is flawless. Unless I'm mistaken I assume Alcad is unforgiving of flaws and would show them well. I'm so glad you didn't try to add real leather to the seats as I've seen time and again and it never looks right to me. You just did a great job painting and it works! Fantastic.
sjordan2 Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Based on John's stunning work on the wheel discs, I found this brochure on "Dunlop wheels and tyres," especially the mounting of the wheel discs over the wires, to be very informative. These dust covers became popular since chauffeurs wanted to reduce the amount of time spent cleaning the wire wheels. The image is a bit fuzzy but useful. The whole brochure is currently on eBay. http://bit.ly/dnKoG4
John Teresi Posted October 26, 2010 Author Posted October 26, 2010 Hello.......engine is finished........alclad and weathered.......wired and plumbed and installed....... tonight I will finish up the interior with some flocking......and will make sure the top of the body fits right before I get it ready for primer and paint......thank`s for looking.
Chuck Most Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Looks like John is out to use up all the Alclad with his last few models! Loving every second of this.
Dave in Seattle Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 He'll have a heck of a time starting this engine with that many bubbles in the gas line! Hope the battery is fully charged.... Fabulous work!
Foxer Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 This just LOOKS heavy ... as a metal model should!
codie27 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Absolutely stunning, this is coming along great. Very nice work.
sjordan2 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Anyone who knows this kit and what the air filter is like (just a two-piece cylinder) can appreciate that John's scratch-built version is a work of art in itself. The rest of the engine is filled with amazing non-kit detail as well.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Wow, this is turning out fantastic. Can't wait to see more.
made007 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 i love to see those alclad parts, its awesome man, keep em coming
John Teresi Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 Hello......the interior is just about finished.......modified steering wheel......added flocking......attached gas and clutch pedals and shifters.......body is primered and tonight I will putty if needed and finish up the dash......I should have color and clear on the body by Fri..........thank`s for looking.
Chuck Most Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Cool... I need to find one of those engines and build a hot rod around it.
