curt raitz Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) Here is my entry into Peter Lombardo's Dual Cowl Build Off Derby inspired by the Bugatti Atlantic and a need to find a model to stick an Allison Engine in! Filled in the front cowl...needed leg room for the Allison. Head and tail lights were donated by a 1940 Ford, chassis, interior, door handles, mirrors, etc are from the "parts box" Debated on adding rear windows, liked the smooth look w/o them and as my buddy Raul Perez and Raul Julia from the original Cannon Ball Movie stated when driving this car "what's behind you is of no importance!" Paint is Model Masters Emerald Green Metallic with one coat of Model Master UltraGloss Cearcoat hope you enjoy my journey into the world of Mr. Lombardo Thank You Peter for this experience, it was very challenging and I hope my efforts have done you proud Lookin' forward to seein' more of these pop up soon... thanx for lookin' Edited October 13, 2010 by curt raitz

curt raitz Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 That turned out really well! BTW... hate the type font you're using in your posts. Hard to read... Thanx Harry...I changed the font, hopefully it's readable now
Peter Lombardo Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Curt, what can I say...that I didn't say before?????? I love it! I am not surprised at all that you were first to the barn with this build....I swear, you must build cars in your sleep. I averaged out your builds from the past few years, you know, when you post "your class of 20XX" and it worked out to a finished model every eleven days.....crazy, and on top of the speed you have, your workmanship never suffers for your speed....amazing. I love what you did with the basic shape of the car....this is exactly what I was hoping for with this little exercise....I wanted you guys to stretch your imagination and do something different and unique. Maybe try a build style that is alien to your standard fare. Anyway, great job...I do love it....the two doors and the color...and that huge power plant....so cool. My build of the car is very traditional, in that I am building it the way I designed it...a dual cowl roadster.....but my variations are coming from the variety techniques I am employing in the build. I will be posting the finished product in a few.... Again, Curt....thanks...I am proud of what you did to it.
Harry P. Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Thanx Harry...I changed the font, hopefully it's readable now Much better!
sjordan2 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Awesome, superb, stupendous, killer, and a Roget's Thesaurus of superlatives. But I'm still bugged by no rear window.
Harry P. Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Awesome, superb, stupendous, killer, and a Roget's Thesaurus of superlatives. But I'm still bugged by no rear window. Ah, but at least it has rear view mirrors on both sides. I think a bigger problem is no wipers...
codie27 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 WOW, this turned out very nice. I really like obscure builds like this one. Great work, thanks for sharing.
curt raitz Posted October 14, 2010 Author Posted October 14, 2010 Ah, but at least it has rear view mirrors on both sides. I think a bigger problem is no wipers... Oops...forgot'em Then it never rains in California, but I've got Minnesota plates on this beast and having grown up in the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" it do rain there so added the wipers again thanx for lookin'
Harry P. Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 It may only be a "small detail" but it adds a whole lot to the model. Nicely done.
DanRaitz Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Hey, Big Brother Great build!! This would definitely be a "summer only" ride back here. With that Allison putting a couple thousand HP to the wheels it would make for some "very interesting" winter driving! Dan
Art Laski Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Nice ride! Very creative and well done. -Art
Nick W. Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 That is awesome! Especially since I was born and still am a Minnesotan. That license plate and build made my day!
Gregg Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Who else is building one? I have one, thanks, Peter, I hope to get on it, ah, er, well....... Great job Curt! Kudo's to Mr. Lombardo!!!!!
jeffs396 Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 AWESOME interpretation of Peter's creation Curt!
randx0 Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Curt your builds never disapoint and this is no exception .I have to admit I am a little jealous that I didn't think of the allison first. I hope mine turns out half as nice.
Romell R Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Very nice Kurt I hope mine turns out as well, Great job as usual keep it up. I'll be starting mine as soon as the wrecker is completed.
Scalper Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Very nice work. Like Harry said the little extra detail really does add a lot.
Raul_Perez Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 ....I swear, you must build cars in your sleep.
