shucky Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 This was discussed before. There is no info on Revell.com? And when I checked last gearz website had no info.
MikeMc Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) Follow that link...I suspect Drew might just know about it as he is ONE of the judges !! TO ENTER: Entrants must log on to www.gearztv.com, www.revell.com or pick up an entry form at your local Revell retailer. Buy one (1) new Revell or Monogram brand Hot Rod model within the Contest Period (January 15, 2011 – May 15, 2011). The list of eligible Hot Rod model kits can be found at www.revell.com or at your local Revell retailer. And Drew.....where are the twentys to be sent??? Edited November 17, 2010 by USELESS
Monte's Motors Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I'm not liking the rule about 10 or less kits in 3 years being a novice builder. Some of the best builders could be in the novice class.

Some of the best builders could be in the novice class. yeah- not too sure about that one, myself. I can build ten models in a month, and I'm sure no master builder!
2002p51 Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 And Drew.....where are the twentys to be sent??? I'm opening a Swiss bank account, I'll let you know.
slantasaurus Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I don't like the list of kits.......I was kicking around an idea for a 67 Charger but it isn't on the list. Not much on that list I would even consider building.
Jason Vandergriff Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Ive got a 41 chevy truck kit guess I need another.......

But, what part of "there isn't any information on revell.com or gearz" dont you understand? Sure there is info in the link as well as an eligible kit list but the websites that we are kept being told to check for information have zero of it. Make sense now? Sorry, but I dislike advertising that instructs people to look elsewhere only to find nothing. Okie dokie then.
MikeMc Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I suspect it is the start date in january,,,
DumpyDan Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 So when it says "NATIONAL CONTEST" does this mean USA only, being Canadain we feel left out sometimes. Just wanting to know.
bobthehobbyguy Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Revell now has the contest info on its website. revell Contest
Mr. Moparman Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I'm entering the 15 and under, box stock catagory with a Revell '32 Ford 5-Window Coupe. I'm going to get my kit tomorrow.

Brandon, DON'T BUY IT TOMORROW!!!! I just checked out the rules for the contest, and to enter, you must get an entry form from a Revell dealer, and the big part, send the entry form and A SALES RECEIPT FOR THE KIT DATED AFTER JANUARY 15, 2011!! Follow the link Bob posted and click on the contest rules, you'll see what I mean. Edited December 22, 2010 by highway

Jantrix Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 My issue is that we can't use a kit from the list we already own. Seems a little greedy to me. I'll pass.
Steven Zimmerman Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I have the same issue,Rob. I probably have 50 Revell kits on the shelf that are on the 'list' and an equal amount of R/M kits that are not....Also,I'm puzzled as to why the Willys kit is not on the list.......

I agree with both of you, too. I have probably at least half a dozen of the kits on the list, a few just looking for an excuse like this to build, but since I'm not a very big fan of hot rods, why would I want to buy another JUST for the build. I also just don't see the point with the kit limits, either. I can understand since it is a Revell sponsered contest, they want Revell/Monogram branded models, but with the "Gearz" connection, they should allow anything, just as the show covers. Stacey does fine work on anything he touches, from the beautiful 32 Ford "Rat Roaster" all the way to the big Dodge 4x4 I think he calls "Sgt. Rock" he started in his Spike TV days hosting "Trucks". Come on, he even made a girly Mazda Miata a kick butt car!!
bobthehobbyguy Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Well I'm just happy there is going to be a contest that I don't have to travel to go to. It's cheaper to buy another kit than the cost of travel and a hotel. Also I'm hoping that if this contest is a success that there will be more in the future. Bobthehobbyguy
Kaleb Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 For the inquiring mind, Revell wants to boost the popularity of the Hobby. The reason they want for you to buy a new one dated after Jan 15th is because most likely no one has built one of what is on the list. Some guys may have 2 or 3 of a kit and one built so it would be easy for them to enter "the newly bought car that has been built a year ago." They cant stop all older cars on their list being entered but this is one way to eliminate that possibility. Second reason it helps their pocket book with this kind of advertisment they will be making their way back for sure. All in all I will try to enter lol I still have not finished my JWAC build because of the front control arm and flat purple paint.
slantasaurus Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) The following was taken from Revell's Facebook page : "Canada laws limited participation to USA, due to Province compliance requirements. This year's theme is Hot Rods which is why we selected the eligible kits. Future contest themes will vary." There you go guys.........blame your government. Edited December 23, 2010 by slantasaurus
highway Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 cool concept, but I don't like they way they break down Novice and Advanced. I just noticed that myself. Does that mean since I've not finished 10 kits in the past three years, I'm a novice!?!?
Monte's Motors Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) I have an issue with the photo entry. What if people photo shop or touch-up the entry pictures? Edited December 24, 2010 by Monte's Motors
