Pro Tech Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 looks great....but isnt it stewArt warner? You got a very keen eye there dougie88, and I think you are right. Actually that decal was not in the kit's decals but from a Slixx vintage drag sheet. The reason for me using it (in that location) was due to a not so great mating of the rear (driver's compartment) and side panel decals that join at that area. I'm guessing the name change has something to do with licensing. Thanks for your comment! Charlie Pro Tech
brad4321 Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I went to my first ever drag race this weekend. It could not have been more awesome. And I met Tommy Ivo, got his autograph, and saw up close his four engine dragster. Just walking along outside the track and Bam, there he/it was. I love Nascar but they could learn something about the show the NHRA puts on outside the track. Great looking model. I'm working on this one now. I'm scared to death of the decaling job upcoming.
Pro Tech Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 Thanks guys, a small update. I finished the rear tires/wheels. The tires are recast from the old Johan funny car kits. I detailed the wheels using Pro Tech’s hex fittings (PTMC 25) used for lug nuts (along with Evergreen .025 rod) and Pro Tech’s machined aluminum valve stems, then gave everything a mild weathering. Thanks for looking! Charlie Pro Tech
Mooneyzs Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 (edited) Charlie.... wow holy smokes those wheels look great. Nice work on them. Love the valve stems you have there. Are the valve stems new parts you sell?? Great work again my friend. Edited September 23, 2011 by Mooneyzs
W-409 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 WOW, those wheels and tires look FANTASTIC! Pro Tech parts are great, this shows it. I have one Pro Tech's Braided line, and that's really good stuff also. Nice looking Dragster, those body panels look good with the paint on. Can't wait to see more of this, detailing looks so great, it's going to be really nice build when it's finished.
gasser59 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Those tires and wheels look great. All the little details really make these look fantastic!! What color did you paint the wheels?
tyrone Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Charlie your builds are always some of neatest and cleanly detailed.. this one is no different...

Thanks guys for your comments! Chris, no the valve stems (PTMC 72) I've had in the parts line for a couple of years now. Looking forward to seeing more on that F/C your doing a knock-out job on! Brad, the wheel color is Testors Metalizer Aluminum Plate. Afterwards I gave them a mild wash of Polly Scale (charcol color) mixed with glass cleaner. Thanks, Charlie Pro Tech
eviltwincustoms Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Very interesting concoction you came up with to weather the wheel/tire combo. I need to find a site to read up on all these paint detail hints! I have never been that good at the painting part of models, to make them look more realistic and "Used".
Randy D Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Hi Charlie, Wonderful build you have going!!! The paint and decal work looks great! Randy
Pro Tech Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 Thanks guys, I finished the engine installation along with all the fluid lines (fuel and oil) using Pro Tech’s Braided Line and Fittings. Been a long road but getting close to wrapping this one up. Thanks for looking! Charlie Pro Tech

Evil Appetite Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Fantastic work..Love your product BTW..great stuff. Thanks for the great closeup's of your engine build, I'm building this one myself and not knowing alot about that eras cars, they're helping alot. I especially love those headers, the ones that come with this kit are just horrible. How did you hollow out the solder.. that looks great!
