stevez Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 from cybermodeler.com, customized parts: skirts, sombreros, etc. never before released.
Chuck Most Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) The description is a little cryptic... is it all new tooling, or is it the old Styline kit with some new parts added? Either way, I'm in! Edited February 18, 2011 by Count Chuckula
SteveG Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) My understanding is it's the newer tool (Mueller era) kit with the custom parts included. I can't say why they held out on releasing the Custom parts version until now considering they were most likely part of the original tooling. I wonder what else the folks at RC2 held out on us? -Steve Edited February 18, 2011 by SteveG
meaneyme Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I hear you can make a custom version? Anyone w/ pictures and review of the kit?
Dr. Cranky Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I ordered a couple from MODELROUNDUP but they haven't arrived yet. I'm also anxious to see what they've done with the '50 Chevy.
stevez Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 I've got one, but not pics. Good kit, body & chassis both excellent. Chrome is shakey, with large stub attachments (sombreros, be very careful)and some flash. Engine is good, some flash on small parts. The pad printed wwalls are excellent!!! Decals are well done. Custom parts include the sombreros, decals, engine option, & skirts. I'd buy another.
Chuck Most Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I only have the RC2-era reissue, but it's a pretty good kit, about on par with the '60 Starliner. It even has a separate plated windshield frame... take THAT, Revell '72 Cutlass!
Chuck Most Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Some pics of mine- it was 'desprued' a bit when I got it, but I think all the parts are there. Not sure exactly how it differs from the Round 2 reissue-
stevez Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 (edited) You also get rear axle lowering parallel leaves, tonneau cover, and the pad printed wwall radial tires (great) for the sombrero wheels. The decals are scallop style, as seen on the box. Again major issue is the chrome: removal, flash, and wavey uneveness in some areas. I am doing full build review for IPMS national website, hopefully be done in next month or so. http://web.ipmsusa3.org/ Edited May 24, 2011 by stevez

Mine has the tonneau cover, but no lowering leaves and the whitewalls are the two piece Firestones as seen in the '62 Catalina kit.
Gregg Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 From the post before on the new format for the site, the photo review of the T-Bird is at: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/Reviews/A682
old gearhead Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Funny...the box art depicts a car with the "roadster" tonneau cover, but it doesn't look as though it's been included with the kit.
Joe Handley Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 We got one of those at work today and it has all of the kustom goodies in it.......I had a hard time not buying it on the way out the door
Chuck Most Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Oh, great... Mr. Lowe and the gang are getting a few more of my dollars.
Joe Handley Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I've already got the one that came in yesterday set aside for myself to buy before I leave work tonight
jbwelda Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 those decals look retro kool, i remember this kit and that tonneau from when i was a kid. im gonna have to grab one of these.
Ron Hamilton Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I have just picked this one up today, and I like it. The new additional pieces set it off, and the white styrene is just what the doctor ordered. You still have to go to the Modelhaus for a set of stock wheel covers and pin whites for a true replica stock non-roadster convertible. Time Machines Resin does the hardtop transkit that fits it like a glove. You have to scratch build a rear window and package tray (no biggie). The Model Car Garage has an excellent photoetch set for this kit, and if you are like me, and have some of the earlier interrations of the kit, Replicas and Miniatures Co. of MD. has the fender skirts and stock air cleaner.
old gearhead Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Pic from Web Site Review Ah hah, there it is. Thanks Gregg.

Kit includes fender skirts, they fit pretty well, also there are 2 air cleaners, isn't one of them stock??
