Fender Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Hello - I'm Fletch and I have been building for a bunch of years. I never quite get the hang of posting pictures. I'd like to. I can only hope that is allowed if I need to. Otherwise I've been addicted to models since I was 8 years old and now I'm 55!! I'm also an oil painter and musician. I do commisioned paintings and play bass in a classic rock band. I've rarely if ever had a friend who is a modeler so most of my stuff I keep to myself. I've suffered ridicule about my model hobby and I've garnered praise too. I don't quite think I'll ever get off the models. I've had 2 large model collections I sold too cheap. I'm on my third and plan on hanging on to them. I started modeling when kits like Lil Coffin and The Orange Crate and others were popular. My first kit was a 1/32 57 Chevy at age 8. I'm looking forward to this site. I hope I'm not posting this thread in the wrong place- sorry if I am. Thanks and have a great day

It's fun to hang out with everyone caz our REASON for bein here is the same, MODELS! Don't worry if you don't build like some of the others, that's OK, were only here for the fun, and if you build for fun, your in the right place! Welcome and ENJOY, caz your HOME now!!! ;)
crazyjim Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Welcome to the MCM forum Rich. This is a great palce to learn and share. And speaking of sharing, could you post more pics of that Willys? It looks good.
Foxer Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Welcome and I'm much like you. Started at 8 and now 64, although there was something like 30 years void between. I always seem to be in locations with no model car clubs near so mine were also pretty my for my viewing. This forum has opened me to the world with no hesitation to display anything ... even mistakes! It's all because of the people here. I like that Willys and the shot angle really makes the photo!
Ben Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Well, you sure have a lot of friends that build models now! No more keeping them to yourself! Lets see those puppies!
Fender Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 Well, you sure have a lot of friends that build models now! No more keeping them to yourself! Lets see those puppies! Okay- here's another one-- and I'll post more Willys soon- I love the Willys cars. My Dad had a 41 when I was about 6 years old. He sold it to our neighbor for 4 or 6 hundred bucks- that was alot of money in 1961. It was not mint condition but I remember he said it had an Olds v 8 in it.
george 53 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 WOW! VERY nice job with the weathering, there, Rich! Who's 57 is that? I mean is it the old AMT kit, or the NEW Revelle kits or AMT kit? Whatever you used, it came out GREAT!!! VERY NICE build.
crazyjim Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I'm not into the weathering bit, but I like what you did - especially the holes in the door for the missing chrome trim.
Ben Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Wow Fletch, that's some pretty nice work!!!!!! The weathering on the Chevy looks great!

Yep- I have a nice collection of Fender basses and guitars. I forget who asked but the 57 is a 1/12 kit - I think it was Monogram. I did two of those.
Fender Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 I'll try to post a couple more pics on the display thread. Thanks for the kind words guys.
