tyrone Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Brilliant idea Chris... fitting for the level of insane detail this build has..... I like it... alot....
Mooneyzs Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 John... Thanks Brother!! Its coming along Bob... thank you Joe... I will also be making the body prop you suggested as well for when the body is up on the chassis Tyrone... Thank Brother! you know I had to figure a way out when it will be displayed at shows I take it to and I though what better way than to make something for the body to sit on. What I will also end up doing is placing a mirror underneath it so the supports can be seen from the inside. I will probably end up trying to paint it some sort of steel color that looks like raw metal but not sure if I should go with some orther color or not.
my80malibu Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Chris, There is a Doll House supply store in Scottsdale, that carries a line of Caster wheels made out of brass. In case you want to make the body stand roll.
Mooneyzs Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 Gabriel... thats awesome. I was planning on scratch building casters but if i could buy some already done I thibk I will go that route. Do you The name of this shop and/or the cross street by chance?
Pro Tech Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Chris, that will make an awesome display for the body and an items most modelers wouldn't think about, nice job Charlie Pro Tech
Mooneyzs Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 (edited) Charlie... thank you buddy!! I was thinking I needed to do something different to display it. I Also have an idea for how I will be displaying the chassis as well. Which would allow you to see underneath the car with a mirror for that too. I have drawn the component up in SolidWorks and just need to send to shapeways or somewhere to have it 3D printed Edited March 7, 2014 by Mooneyzs
Skypower Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 That looks great will be very theme oriented when displaying the car. Now all you need is a set of pro jacks to put the car up on over a mirror for the full effect and maybe a trailer with a canopy, give it the whole track side look with out doing a full diorama.
my80malibu Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Gabriel... thats awesome. I was planning on scratch building casters but if i could buy some already done I thibk I will go that route. Do you The name of this shop and/or the cross street by chance? I got mine at the Dollhouse and Toy Company it's in North Scottsdale at the Promenade. The product is from Houseworks Dollhouse supply of Atlanta, Ga. #1104 they have a website just look under the Hardware section.
cobraman Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Nice addition, however........... tick tock my friend tick tock. : )

That shop is also where I get my tiny brass brads that you were admiring Chris.
Danno Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 These are the casters Gabe refers to. They are considered 1/12 scale, but they don't list dimensions. I can tell you, Chris, Gabe is right - they are exactly what you're looking for!
jasoncamaro Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Dude you just keep making this build more amazing with every update
Jim3 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) http://www.houseworksltd.com/index.asp?listid=97&cpid=HARDWARE Here is the link , some cool stuff.. Edited March 9, 2014 by Jim3
Dyno Davo Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Simply awe inspiring Chris, this is stuff of scale modelling legend. Keep at it
Mooneyzs Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 Dave... Thank you!! Bob... I have had an idea for how I would like to display this and it is along the lines as you mentioned with having mirrors under the the body and chassis but I won't be using pro jacks... going to go a little more old school with what I have planned on using to prop the chassis up. Gabriel... Thank you for the info... I ended up going to Scottsdale to pick some of those up and the guy was out of them. So I ordered some tonight off ebay. Thanks for the recommendation. Ray... You are right... the clock is ticking away. I will be jumping back to the body now as well as trying to finish up an older project to have done in time for the show. Brad... I can't remember what those brass brads looked like...lol Danno... you are right that those casters are exactly what I was looking for. and for about 5 bucks a lot cheaper to buy them, then for me take a few hours or more to build them...haha Jason... Thank you. I have been trying to add some cool little things that I haven't seen or what I think would be a neat way to display it. Jimmy... Thanks for the link. Perfect. David.... Thank you, Means a lot hearing that.
Mooneyzs Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 Well Fellas.... I got some time to sit at the bench tonight and haven't been at the bench since last week. I was able to get most of the Body Cart Soldered tonight. I still have a couple of tabs that I need to make as well as two more support pieces, which I ran out of 3/32" square tube so I need to pick some up from the hobby store. I did get some brass casters ordered and they should be here in the next few days. Here are some progress pics.... Here is the rear section soldered together. I have just a little clean up with the solder joints but not much and I also need to add some pieces to create a U-shaped pieced for the body pivot to sit on. You will see in a later pic what I mean: Here is the front section soldered together. Pretty much just like the rear but narrower and the joints need some clean up as well as two tabs which will center the body up front: Here is the 3 main pieces of this body cart. The long center piece needs to have two holes drilled in it to mount the end pieces. I wanted to be able to take this body cart apart for traveling purposes, as well as some tabs will need to be soldered to the rod that will hold a support bar in place: Here is the body cart mocked up so far:
Mooneyzs Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 Here are some shots with the body set in place to see how it will look.... Front view: Rear View: Under Rear View: Under Front View:
