Carmikeman Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I've been out of modeling too long. Probably could've picked an easier project to get back into it. This is a model of a truck special ordered by my dad in 1978. Going to be midnight blue. Really nothing special. Will have a 302 out of the Revell 3 window coupe kit, shortbed and grille from Blue Oval Resin. Been alot of work to get everything to this stage. Got just a little more bodywork and then primer. Don't be too hard on me fellas.
Greg Pugh Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Nice project! I just sold my '78 Ranger XLT and I'm already missing it!!
Carmikeman Posted March 16, 2011 Author Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) They are some good trucks. Wish I still had this one too. Edited March 16, 2011 by Carmikeman

impcon Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I wish that someone would cast this truck in resin........ looks pretty darned good and a better job than I could do that's for sure. We have a '77 F150 long box that we have had since 1986 and I have looked at it many times and considered trying to do what you are doing here. Nice job.. VERY nice job!!!

Carmikeman Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 thanks for the kind words fellas. paint is Duplicolor dark sapphire blue. resin bed from blue oval. was gonna use the kit wheels that came in the Model King kit. got a set of dogdish hubcaps from MAD. got the frame cut and building a 9 inch rearend for it. interior will be kinda plain for i'm not too good with them. i started this project 5 years ago and is my first project after being out of modeling. think i shoulda picked something easier to start back up. seems like i really gotta make myself work on this thing for some reason
Chuck Most Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Great looking model of the coolest looking trucks Ford ever built.
Modlbldr Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 For it being your first one back it looks like a winner. I've got a few projects that I started 20 yrs ago (and some 15 yrs ago) and they aren't even that far along. My Dad bought a 78 F250 Supercab Camper Special in 78. It was the Cinnamon and tan two tone. What a beautiful truck. Funny thing is, his fought him the entire time he owned it too. Can't wait to see more progress. Later-
