novadose71 Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Posted progress on this a couple of years ago and thought I posted it finished, but couldn't find it. Built from the SS350 kit as a replica of the CARS magazine road test car and by far my most detailed build to date. I robbed 4 or 5 kits of miscellaneous parts and decals to build this. Being a first issue kit I had to turn the gas tank around. Then I modified the kit hood with a 67 Vette scoop. The traction bars, Mallory coil, Vinyl top, voltage regulator are scratchbuilt and fully plumbed and wired everything I could think of. Testors Fathom Green was used for the color. Thanks for lookin'
W117monte Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Really cool! It just looks right. Hell of a job
Harry P. Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Holy schmoly! You really knocked it out of the park with that one! That's one of the finest scale Novas I've ever seen. So many things to comment on, but for some reason my eye goes to the wheels. I love the way you detailed them. Definitely a 10+!
W117monte Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 By the way, how did you do the SS emblems on the grill and rear?
LAone Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 that is one slick nova. love every detail about it. would love to have one like this in my garage
Iron Fist Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 (edited) What an amazing build, that engine bay is stellar; the only thing that doesn't fit with the build quality is the side exhaust, everything looks real except for the chrome side pipes. Edited March 28, 2011 by Iron Fist
Greg Pugh Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 As a person that used to have a '70, a '71 and a '72 all Nova Super Sports, I can say that this is definately a homerun! That grille is fantastic and I would really like to know your secret....but every one of your interiors is nothing short of amazing!!! They just look sooooo real!
Janne Herajärvi Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Thats maybe nicest Nova what ive seen in scale! Keep up great work!
george 53 Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 The finned sidepipe covers do it for me! I once saw a lil Nova just like that in Florida,in Tampa. It was a REAL MOTION Nova, and the owner said the covers were more in style with the car. I liked the exposed 4 into 1 sidepipes like the Camaro's and Vette's ran.Just a BEAUTIFUL build!!!!! B)
LOBBS Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I know I posted on the in-progress thread but this Nova is absolutely amazing.

So many things to comment on, but for some reason my eye goes to the wheels. I love the way you detailed them. Definitely a 10+! I noticed the wheels too. I like the way you represented the little wheel bearing cup in the center hole of the fronts. Don't recall ever seeing this done on scale Torq Thrusts. gus
kelson Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 What a mean looking car!i'm sure back in the day you wouldn't want to see that car in your rearview mirror or pulling up beside you.
shatteredsoul76 Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Awesome, she looks ready to pound some pavement and leave everything in the dust.
novadose71 Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 Thanks guys. To answer some questions The grille emblem is a decal, might have come with the kit, I don't recall. The grille detail "secret"....... research, research, research I knew I snapped this a while back.....the real car....I wonder where it is now Now that the "COPO" (base model:) is out, which is what got me excited to post my Nova's, I can build my 1:1
