Bill Edman Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Can anyone tell me some kits to look in to try and find some
mikemodeler Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Not certain which kits contain them but I know you can order them from Replicas & Minatures Co. of Maryland. Their part number is dd-27 and goes for $7.95. No website but here is their address: 317 Roosevelt Ave. Glen Burnie, MD 21061 email: replmincomd@aol.com Phone: 410-768-3648 9-6 Mon-Sat (EST)
george 53 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Check out Danny Iacoangeli at www.scenesunltd.com You'll be AMAZED to see some of the stuff he has. And you WON'T find a NICER set of Finned brake drums ANYWHERE!!! TRUST me on this one!!!
Nate Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I haven't seen the ones mentioned above but I'd say the best set I've seen are Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland's. They're killer!
Matt T. Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Can anyone tell me some kits to look in to try and find some AMT Silhouette show car.
george 53 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 No offense intended at all, Nate. But maybe you should just take a look for yourself . I did. I bought some from Danny. they ARE nice!!!!!
Jon Cole Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) You can see Norm's finned Buick drums in the center of the pic below... They were mastered by Bob Dudek, from this: BTW, I went to the link that George provided, and I must say, Dan does make some impressive stuff! I do notice that he does not mention where he is. That matters to me... I just want to know where the vendor is. He does appear to offer an e-mail contact, as well as Facebook. Edited April 8, 2011 by Jon Cole
MrObsessive Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 One more plug for Norm's Finned Drums! You can't go wrong with them as others have said.......they're very accurate for whatever you want to represent. Here's a pic of 'em on my '57 Corvette chassis when it was under construction years ago............
Chuck Most Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 The AMT '62 Buick Electra 225 kit has one. Yep, one. So you'd need four of those kits to net a complete set of four.
george 53 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Jon, Danny's located in Monroe Michigan, and he's a member of the DMCC. In my opinion, they're JUST as nice as Norm's an cheaper too. ;)
Greg Myers Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 The AMT '62 Buick Electra 225 kit has one. Yep, one. So you'd need four of those kits to net a complete set of four. Lots of old AMT kits had just one, it was supposed to be used with that corner of the suspension jacked up as it would be in a show. My first thought on this thread was, " Hey doesn't everyone have a bunch of those in their parts box?"
RJWood Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 The AMT showrod kit Ice Cream Truck has 2 good ones.
charlie8575 Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 In addition to the '62 Buick, the AMT '65 Riviera and 1966 Wildcat all have the finned drums. The ones in the Wildcat are very nicely-done. Charlie Larkin
samdiego Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 (edited) Some of AMT's Merc releases had several (6, I think) as stanchion bases. You can see one on the front. Edited April 14, 2011 by samdiego
