I'm interested to know if there are anyone like me, here. I have a favorite car that I have built some 40 kits of, in one scale or another. That car is of course the 55 Chevy. I have a total of 26 2 dr sedans, 11 converts,

and 6 hardtops. That doesn't count trucks or Nomads. I've built them factory stock, street machine,or just about any other style. Am I crazy? My wife thinks I am. Does anyone else do this or is it just me?

I wouldnt call it crazy at all, if your that much in love with the '55. I just won my first kit of the 55 convert at my lhc. I usually dont build more than one of a certain car, because I get bored doing the same kit or same kind of vehicle. But like i say i wouldnt call it crazy because of the fact that you like that particular style and year of car. There are cars I wish I could bring myself to make more than one.....

You're not crazy at all, at least in another modeler's eye!! :):D

I think we all have cars we are passionate about, and people not really in the hobby just don't understand our visions or passions. I quite regularly hear from my better half that she feels we live in a hobby shop and also why I have to have another kit. I'm not quite like you with the 55s Dwight, but I do like all the tri 5 year Chevys and have at least one of each and the Nomads too. My biggest where I'm like you is with Dale Earnhardt Sr cars, I could not even tell you how many kits I have and that's not even including the donor kits for aftermarket decals.

You are not CRAZY at all. I keep building the same 10 kits over an over, and that '55 Chevy I just built five in a row . . . :):D;)

For me it's the AMT 57 Ford kit that's my main building obssession. Over the years I've built around ten of then & have five or six in the stash right now, including one complete original issue Trophy Series version.

Like Donnie I've also built my share of 32 Fords, mostly by Revell. Three 3W coupes, one roadster, one 5W coupe, & two sedans, with at least one more of each one of those, plus one Speedwagon version in my stash.

I also have a thing for 40 Fords, especially the coupes. I've built four of the AMT ones in my life, & one Revell. I have another Revell & 3 AMT kits still in the stash.

I have built multiples of many kits over the years, & tend to have multiples of some of my favorites both built & in my stash waiting to be built even now.

:)

Can't say I've built 10 '57 Fords from AMT, but if I include a couple of Revell '57 Rancheros, and a 1/32 Revell '57 snap kit from way back when, I'm there. I do have another '57 AMT in the stash which I'm debating colors on. The '56 Ford is another which I've built more of than I can remember.

I've built so many Monogram NASCARs I could do it in my sleep (some might say I have on occasion). I say build what you like

Not to worry you have lots of company.

Mine are the 1940 Ford and the 1956 Ford.

I thought about this for a while and realized I DO like one over another.

For me, it's the Suzuki Sidekick.

I have 5 in the works now.

Hmmmm... I've built ten International Scout IIs (even though it's a LOUSY kit, I love the 1:1 that much), easily as many Lindberg '34 Ford closed cab pickups, and scads of Model A's. And I ALWAYS have at least one or two of those three vehicles in my current projects arsenel at any given time. No... I don't see anything wrong with your behavior at all!

Bro, you are absolutely NOT crazy, and as others have said you have tons of company. My obcession is Corvette kits. I am trying to find and purchase at least one for each model year. Quite a difficult task but not impossible. I even have a log sheet of those I have and those I need and am only about half way there.

I think it comes down to two things.

1st. You build what you like. Your favorite car that can be done in a variety of ways.

2nd. A good kit. Goes together well, well propertioned, lends itself well to modification.

And when these two things come together? Modeling bliss.

The 66/67 Charger is my favorite car of all time. I build two MPC versions before the Revell kit arrived. I have built one so far but have three more waiting in the wings. I think you'll find most of us are crazy if you are. And it's a good thing.

I currently have about 10 '64 chevy impalas built in one form or another(amt/ertl). I either build them or use the parts on other models. I thought I was crazy!! great minds think alike. B)

Number one is the AMT 32 Ford. I have around 26 of those, finished, in progress, and vintage untouched. Second used to be AMT's 40 Ford in all its variations, but now the AMT 25 T is number two. I have a bunch including a Cop Out glue bomb I'm repairing and an untouched Fruit Wagon.

Nope. You ain't crazy. I have a collection of '97- 2000 Ford F150's. From all the variants, I've been able to kitbash them into other avaiable body styles and drivetrain types.

Uh , I have to dissagree. First the 77-8 Dodge Monacos were Taxis, delivery cars , family beaters , "second- cars " , the list is endless......... Ed Shaver

I have over 30 77-78 MONACO! 2 And 4-door kits unbuilt, With 5 in the works.And 2 finished.

I know at least one of those is a Force 440 from Dean's.

No. Not crazy. But here is something that may be. I have 6 Or 7 Tamiya Fiat 500s and have never built a single one. I plan to, and I think the kit is very cool, and I like mini cars, I just haven't built one yet. I also have 2 Gunze Fiats - unbuilt.

Anybody else have that going?
