stump Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Rom, this just gets better mate.... The floor pan, the seat and harness......and that carbon hat. To die for.....(I can see it's not going to suit your build, just send it to me. ) Can't wait to see how the butterflies turn out mate. Keep up the excellent work.
Romell R Posted August 14, 2011 Author Posted August 14, 2011 (edited) Hey Greg thx for the compliments my Brother from down under, and you keep up the excellent work on the 69 Camaro I was able to get the butterfly doors on and they did indeed work, but they are way to fragile I kept breaking the setup so I decided I would just glue them shut other wise it would just been one more thing to worry about when traveling. so with out further ado here's what I came up with. I hope you enjoy. Here's the injector hat drilled out and the hinge wire being fitted the four separate butter fly doors cut from brass here's the setup before I broke it the first time.... finished and final setup Yall come back now ya hear Edited August 14, 2011 by Aftashox
crazyjim Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 What a fantastic build you have going, Romell. I certainly hope you're enjoying being at the top of my most hated list (meant in a friendly, jealous way). I need to go change keyboards now until the drool dries.
Dragracer Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 It's too bad the butterflies wouldn't cooperate, bummer ,was hoping to see them in working mode. But they still turned out great, love this build! (along with sooooo many others)as soon as my money comes in I'm planning on getting some detailing parts (Pro-Tech & a few others) for my Pro-Mod builds, plus a camera, so I don't have to borrow the only one in the house, & can take pics whenever I want.
Romell R Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 Jim thx for putting me at the top of your endearment list glad some one likes me enough to notice Thanks Tyrone and keep up that excellent work you do Richard Yeah I was bummed too, and hope you get those detail parts soon. Well fellas I was able to get the front brake assembly started so I thought I'd share what I have so far. Hope you enjoy I started by soldering a cap onto this piece of brass tubing then I cut the tube down to 2mm and marked off the center for later drilling the piece has been drilled out and marked for the fastener holes here the rim has been drilled also to mate the brake rotor finally the rotor is added, all thats left is to paint it and add the lug nuts of course i'll clean this up before it gets painted. Come back soon for more.
hOLMS Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Rom....most outstanding, running out of words. I"ll google some new ones. Great job man!!

Not Normal Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 just jointed the site, checked out the Daytona P/M....I'm a drooling mouth breather now. -shawn
saltflat1 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Romell, Nothing can add to whats already been said .After watching this build I have come to believe that your imagination and fabrication skills are light years ahead of the curve. If mind altering drugs have been involved in this process please advise as to their source. Thanks for sharing with all of us.
Interceptor Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Not enough words to describe the craftsmanship that has gone into this build. Outstanding work, keep it up. Mark a.k.a. Interceptor
Romell R Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 Welcome aboard Shawn And you should be able to pick up a fresh new box of Kleenex at the forum entrance Henry the mind altering drugs come from years of inhaling paint ,glue and thinners which can be picked up at your Local Hobby Store Thank Interceptor for giving me the honor of being you first post , and welcome aboard. Well fellas I'm into the part of the build that I like the least. Body work! not that i cant do it I just rather not do it . Any way i had to widen the rear fenders to make room for those huge FlashPoint tires. Here's what I did to get it right. Originally I was gonna cheat and just move the wheel opening out a few mm. but I felt like I was cheating so I went a better route instead I cut out the wheel opening and made a whole new fender that brings the fenders out 4mm on both side cut down to size.... see ya on the next post
Romell R Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 Ok I got the fenders widened but I still need a tab bit more room so I cut the body down the center and install a wedge that will give me 2mm more on the sides heres the fender with putty on it Here's the wedge installed now all I have to do is make it all look like its not there. see ya on the next update
Dragracer Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 The body work looks good Rom, don't you just hate it when things just don't fit where they're supposed too! LOL!
tyrone Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Good stuff Rom, dont know if I would have had the nerve to do that... looks good....
Romell R Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 I thought I'd post up a couple inspiration pics hope you enjoy I think shes starting to look like a Daytona.
Mooneyzs Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Rom.... Looking sweet with it mocked up. It sure is coming together. Keep up the great work.
Dragracer Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 What !, is it so fast you already have to put weight on it to keep it down! , looks good Rom, are those the decals you are planning for it?
Romell R Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 LOL! I didn't even realize the decals were in the pic, but yes those are the ones I plan to use after I scale them up to 1/16th scale
Romell R Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 Romell: Just curious (and pardon my ignorance of ProMod cars in general) but I was wondering now that the body is coming together if you had a graphics scheme picked out? If so, can you share it? It may well be either a surprise or you don't have it picked out, I'll understand. For all I know this could be a replica of a 1:1 car, too, so if it's something obvious I apologize in advance. I just didn't see anything in the build so far. Never seen anything quite like it! Keep us posted on the progress! Its not ignorance on your part at all I did mention somewhere in the thread what I was gonna attempt to do. but to keep you from having to search endless pages to find it I'll be glad to try to explain it for you . the overall car will be a HOK Oriental Blue KK04 on the hood will be the Mopar "M" that will be under water it will look similar to this grafic the sides with have the word "Aftashox" air brushed down the side in this fashion There will also be steel vents air brushed in the sides that will be under water like the vents in this pic Now I know this all sounds confusing but that's just the way my mind works I hope you could get a mental picture.
Mr. Moparman Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Killer paint scheme idea Rom! What's chillining on that mill of yours?
