FASTBACK340 Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 John, actually in this case the P/M in question is Pro Modified, since the topic is dragsters! If you go back past the post that Ron quoted, there is this post... ...which not only explains the P/M, but also the John being referred to! OK, I'm embarrassed! Sorry for the momentary brain-inactivity... It happens from time to time and I blame it on the 80's.
highway Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 OK, I'm embarrassed! Sorry for the momentary brain-inactivity... It happens from time to time and I blame it on the 80's. What, the decade or the age!?!? I'm too young to blame the 80s or the 70s, so I blame my momentary brain lapses on 25 years of paint and glue fumes!
Chuck Most Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I blame my momentary lapses on the fact I was born in the '80's, but my mother still somehow managed to raise me in the '60's. Guess that explains my long hair, my love for folk music, and my thing with air-cooled Volkswagens!
FASTBACK340 Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 What, the decade or the age!?!? <sigh....> The decade of decadence, the 80's.
Tony T Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Rom, those are ambitious ideas for paint...you can pull it off. I'd be worried that there might be too many layers, that lower layer details will be lost under the upper layers and that there may be too many competing shapes and elements. Now, that is my opinion. I'm not the artist here!! I know that whatever way you go, Romell, it will be fabulous eye-candy!! That fuel pump is stunning. This is going to be a collection of models within a model.
Dragracer Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 OK, I'm embarrassed! Sorry for the momentary brain-inactivity... It happens from time to time and I blame it on the 80's. I blame mine on the 70's, guess that explains my long hair & love of hard rock (& soft rock, progressive rock, etc. )
Romell R Posted July 25, 2011 Author Posted July 25, 2011 Hey Tony thx for your compliment and thx for following the build, I'm just gonna do my best on the paint and maybe I'll get something nice out of it. So I got a lil bench time in last night and was able to get back to the tranny , I was gonna go full blown detail on it but i did some reserch and found that most Pro Mods run a tranny bag so all my hard work will be covered up, So to heck with the detail. Of course there will be enough detail for a good show anyway heres what I have and I'll make another post later today. I hope you enjoy. Here we have the ruff tranny and the resin bell housing here the tranny and bell housing have been attached and I have fabbed a reverse brace on the output end. Reverse handle and lever. see ya later...
Dragracer Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Lookin' good Rom! I agree why put hours of detail on something thats only gonna get wrapped up!
John Teresi Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Romell......looking good!!!!!!.......I know what you mean about detail being covered up...... it seems like I am always doing extra work.........that no one will ever see........looking really good Rom.
LAone Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 that paint idea is insane! i can picture it already. trans looks good. it is a shame to cover up such great detail. although it wont be seen by others, you know it's there and thats what counts..

gasser59 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Holy Smokes!! I gotta find a new hobby because reading through this entire thread, although its an amazing documentary on a fantastic build, has made me think that I'd be better off crocheting or basket weaving. A truly amazing and inspirational work of art Rom. I'm in total and absolute awe. Keep it going, I'll be following along.

Danno Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 How does the hat attach to the blower plate and the blower plate to the blower?
Romell R Posted July 26, 2011 Author Posted July 26, 2011 How does the hat attach to the blower plate and the blower plate to the blower? The hat bolts through the plate to the blower , I just havent added the bolts yet
pharr7226 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 The tranny blanket looks awesome with the buckles. I dig the blower assembly also. I'm looking forward to seeing that killer waterman fuel pump plumbed.
