Wayne, I hate to be a nit picker but........the valve covers that you have prepped and painted are incorrect for your build. Those look to be from modern Pro Stock Hemi. The spark plug tubes should be evenly spaced and not siamesed in the center as yours are. The modern Pro Stock Hemi and the 426 based Super Stock Hemi are two totally different animals with no interchangeable parts.

Thanks Walter. I was unaware of the difference. It won't be too difficult to fix and move on.

Still nice work, if you need a sit of valve cover i have some bro.

O.K., so the valve covers are corrected and repainted. The engine is starting to come together. The front suspension is partially assembled.

Looking good Wayne, the engine(valve covers) look good, (liked 'em before too!), the chassis is coming out nice. On a side note, like your master of the '68 Firebird P/M that Chris is making, I"ll be getting one of those!

Really great job so far with this one. I like to see these modern SuperStockers too, but of course the old ones are looking better. I like what you have done so far. The engine looks real good, and rear tires are nice. It's getting very interesting when you can put the body on. :)

Well, it's been about a month since my last update so here it goes.

I took a parts box seat and painted it up and added it to the interior along with getting the extinguisher painted.

From there I added more detail to the engine. The distributer is one of the best created from Scale Modeling by Chris. The plug boots are actually painted solder drilled out to accept the plug wires. The Hemi decals come from one of the new goodies sheets from Slixx. The aluminum pulleys are from Detail Master. The engine is just set in place at the moment. Everything is starting to come along at a quicker pace.

Wayne, great looking build not sure how I've missed this one until now. I've been going to the Hemi Shootout at the US Nats for the last 10 years and I have some close up detail shots of this very car. I don't know how exact you want this build to be but this car has a few unique features, one of them being "windowed" valve covers, i.e. the valve covers have plexiglass in the middle so that he can check the valvetrain without removing them. Another unique feature is the gray tweed covered dash, seat, and door panels. If you want to check my pics just PM me and I'll send you links to my photobucket.

Another home run Wayne. Great choice of a subject... you can't go wrong with a black car and flames. B) The chassis modifications and decal work look great. The pulleys look like machined aluminum. Where did you get them?

Thanks Ron for the links to your photos. They will come in handy to finish this project and for any future SS projects. As for the pulleys they are old Detail Master aluminum pulleys that I had in the parts drawer.
