From a 'heavenly' source comes early scoop:

The factory stock Hudson Hornet hasn't even hit the shelves yet, but here is the advance scoop on the NEXT Moebius Hudson Hornet ... due this Fall as a very limited Model King release!

The real Tim Flock Fabulous Hudson Hornet!!

Only 3,000 will be run, only one run will be made!

X2 I wonder if it will have "racing parts" like heavy duty wheels and a roll bar?

The car pictured is a 1949 or 1950 Hudson, NOT the kit that Moebius is doing (Moebius kits will be 1952-53, which is a different grille and front clip).

The Moebius tooling has the correct roll bars, correct Nascar exhaust setup, and open steel wheels, which were not modified, they were the stock Hudson steelies, just didn't use hubcaps from the street version.

I have test shots here which have all those parts in them.

Oops, I was trying to post a question about the stock version of the Hudson kit. Does it come with the steely wheels and seperate stock hubcaps?

Yes, seeing as the hubcaps are just that, hubcaps and not full wheel covers.

Bring it on. I love this kit even before opening the box. Well, I don't have it yet, but when I do. When I do. When I do, I will go CRAZY!

Art is absolutely correct (as usual); the photo depicts an earlier Hudson campaigned by Tim Flock. The second issue of the Moebius Hudson kit, commissioned by Model King, is a '53 version and is somewhat different than this one. The pic shown is the pic that was used to illustrate the sneakpeak announcement.

The Moebius model should look more like this ...

And Art can correct me again if this isn't close; I have no problem with that. I'll be looking forward to seeing Art's test shot pix anyway.

I'm just REALLY looking forward to getting my hands on the Moebius kits!

In a much earlier post on this subject, Sven said there would be a race version and a convertible.

It's strange that they would chose Tim Flock as the driver for the '53 Hudson. In that year he only raced in and won 1 Grand National race. I know Tim Flock is a huge name and everything but in representing that year they could have went with a driver that is more known for that car. Herb Thomas (won the Grand National Championship that year)or Dick Rathmann would have been better representatives for that year of car. Even Tims brother, Flonty Flock, who is most known for been involved in the crash that killed Bobby Myers raced and won more in a Hudson that year.

I'm not saying Tim Flock is a bad driver (he was one of the best I think he still holds the highest race winning percentage) or isn't worth representing on a model. I just think they could have chosen a better representative for that specific year of race car. When other choices would have been just as notable.

All that said I will probably get the Model King kit. If they put enough extra race parts in the box to make it worth the extra price. If it is just a reissue with a different set of decals I hardly see it worth the price. Now if they put a Jocko figure in the kit I might buy two or three. Perhaps the Monkey is the reason for choosing Tim Flock as the "driver" wouldn't that be awesome.
