You dig out a part you have been saving for a long while for the perfect build, modify it heavily to work/fit/whatever only to realize when it's done that you don't like it after all and that great part is toast?

...when you test fit and test fit and test fit and test fit some more... then add glue and paint... then test fit three more times... then go through 98% of your build, only to have something cause the chassis NOT to sit tight to the body? Or interior poke out the glass?

Really aggravating...

Hmmmm, sounds like something I did with this build.

HPIM1904.jpg

I had to modify the frame for the monster tires and engine, then I wanted to do the same with a 29 truck. I started digging through the (what I though) were spare parts of this build and thought "Hey, this frame might work." and started cutting and hacking it before I relized it was the frame from the 34! Definetly one of those D'OH! moments!! :P

Heck yeah. That's why I've got such an awesome parts box that I've inherited from the modeling elders over the years... because I'm too chicken to risk using "one chance only" parts. Sort of a hoarding mentality. The part's too precious to actually USE. What if I botch it? I'm sure there are studies.

When you've been working all day on the project and you set it down for the evening and you can hardly tell any progress has been made.

....or worse yet, when you have a 6-page build thread going and you happen to notice that the picture on page one looks exactly like the picture on page 6! :D:blink:

Or you spend a lot of time and effort to create a model that hadn't been kitted and they come out with it a short time later?

Wanted an El Camino SS so took the Monte Carlo front and put it on the '82 El Camino, then they kitted the darn thing...

Your reaching across the workbench to grab a tool and you knock over a bottle of paint or glue or thinner that you forgot to re-cap.

Spilled liquid always goes where you don't want it to go.

when you have the body painted and about to put it on the chassis and all a sudden you remember that you forgot about the mirrors!! usually the outer ones.. B) usually on older jap kits the mirrors are mounted on the fenders and require drilling.

You're working real hard to make headway on a project for an upcoming show. And you lose a very important engine part(exhaust manifold)and cannot find it anywhere. Worst yet it is a RoG kit part that if the kit is still in production would take 12 WEEKS  to get a replacement. I had to fabricate one, came out pretty good but took a few hours. Well maybe it will be finished for a future show, not enough time to finish it for this one (too many details not enough time). <_<

Also along those lines is one that I run into many times, a build that you just think no one else could ever dream up, then the next month you open a magazine and see your idea staring you in the face in the contest coverage!

What scares me with this is that there are people out there as crazy as I am!!<_<
