1320wayne Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) In amongst all of the other projects that I have ongoing I decided to pull one from the shelf and do another rebuild on it. This will be the second time that I have rebuilt this one as I just haven't been satisfied with the finished piece. This one started life as a Jimmy Flintstone "Cadzilla" style resin body that I picked up years ago and built years ago. It was originally done as a pro street 51 Chevy using a Revell kit for the chassis and interior. Not happy with that one, years ago I pulled it apart, cut the roof off, added a turtledeck and turned it into a roadster. I built it as a curbside with a late model Corvette interior, painted it transparent blue over blue with some green ghost flames. I messed up the paint so rather than start over I covered up the mistake with a blanket. Here is what it looked like after the first rebuild. Now, years later, I decided that I was still not happy with it so I tore it apart, sanded down the body, primed it and got it ready for it's new exterior look. When it's done it will still be a curbside with the same Vette interior, but the overall appearrance should look quite different. I decided that I wanted to use this build as a trial for my attempt at making more of my own decals on my home computer. The body has been painted with Valspar white and masked off with a silver base and Testors Transparent Blue sprayed over that. Once dry and a little wetsanding to smooth out any rough edges on the seperation, I added some barbed wire graphics from a Slixx sheet. From there the flames were done on my computer. They were a really good looking set of flames that I found on the net, exported them into a Word document and then stretched them to match the side profile of the car. This is where I'm at so far. I'm working on a new tire/wheel combination, although the rears don't really show at all. More to come. Edited August 1, 2011 by 1320wayne
