After my constant nagging, my 11 yo daughter finished her first kit, she went to a club meeting and begged for a kit, then decided it was too hard, so I nagged long enough that she finally built it. She had a Revell '99 Camaro but lost a few parts so I gave her the parts from my '02 Z28 kit.

Then my developmentally delayed son (9 yo) said "I want one too!" Gave him a Street Fighter kit that I had robbed the wheels, tires and shifter from, and he went right to work. I think they both did pretty well for their firsts.

Let em' (and me) know what you think!

Positively awesome stuff. Please save them for years down the road. I wish I still had mine.

Tell em both from they did very well indeed.

Your kids should be proud. Those kits CAN be hard for kids but more importantly than how well they did is how their perseverance paid off. That's one of those little life lessons that the hobby can contribute to personal growth of the growing.

Very nice work on both of these.

I think that your son especially is doing well with this is a positive sign. That could seriously be the best therapy for him and I encourage you to keep him in that direction.

Keep it going, kids of Sam! We're all here to help you if you need it.

Keep encouraging them to build and they will see the improvement in the quality of their builds. They did very well for their first time out and it is nice to see some kids interested in our hobby!
