Is that Maverick done with the swirladelic method ? If so I haven't seen one done like that in a long time. Wasn't that Hank Borger's idea back in the day ?

Somehow, some way, I missed this thread all the way back to last year!!!

Firstly, It is really gratifying to see a number of builders building the resin I sell. You all did a great job. I also mastered the Flinstone Studebaker Funny Car and Top Fuel bodies and the Cheez-Cast Opel GT. Very fun to see the Opel built!

Even though I am into a lot of things, drag racing is my first love and do my best work on drag cars.

Without further delay......

I had to build one of my own! The Bugzapper is done in custom mixed purple to match the M&Ms wrapper. Also used were Slixx decals, lots of photo etch, LOTS of braided line and A/N fittings- holy cow! I hinged the escape hatch, machined a drive shaft, front hubs and wheelie wheel and bracket. Scratchbuilt a new magneto set-up, fuel system parts and wheelie bars. The paint was a little weak and Steve Perry and John Teresi skunked me at GSL 2011!! http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/angry.png I am plotting revenge. Anyway, it was a fun model to build.

Andy...somehow I missed this car. Absolutely outstanding! And though the links to your Porsche 928 image don't work any more (courtesy of our friends at Fokit and the "missing pictures" escapade, I presume), I still recall being blown away by that bad boy when you set it on the table at the first ever NNL in Tom's garage back in 1980.

Anyway, very cool to see that you have not lost your touch! Best...TIM

Looks like it's been about a year and a half since I last posted any pictures here...so these are my latest contributions

toward keeping this thread alive....

Before we get started, just a huge KUDO's to everyone who has posted in this thread....just spent a couple of hours going back through it and the variety and ingenuity of your drag models is just stunning. WAY TO GO for everyone who has posted in this link.

OK then, lets' kick off with a couple of dual-engine dragsters from my Rail Dragsters folder....http://public.fotki.com/funman1712/tim-boyds-124th--12/boyd-rail-dragsters/boyd-rail-dragsters/ Thanks for looking. TIM

...and from my Drag Racing Door Slammers folder....

..comes this SuperStock Barracuda that I built back in the mid 1980's. I used the article by our own Bill Coulter chronicling his Sox and Martin 'cuda SuperStock as reference in building this one...

...folllowed by a box stock buildup of the Ohio George Montgomery "Multi-Maverick" with a phantom paint scheme and Mr. Gasket livery...

...and finally, this mockup of a '56 Chevy 210 DelRay Gasser...

...much more at the link. http://public.fotki.com/funman1712/tim-boyds-124th--12/boyd-drag-racing-do/boyd-drag-racing-do/

....from the Funny Car Folder comes this vintage '70 Charger funny car with a Gene-Snow style, completely scratchbuilt chassis. This had several features completely new for models back then....such as a fully detailed blower backfire valve and header braces....and a fully working front suspension. More pictures of this and others at the link...http://public.fotki.com/funman1712/tim-boyds-124th--12/boyd-scale-funny-cars-/boyd-funny-cars-models/

Finally, there are several drag-racing themed On-Line How-To articles at this link...http://public.fotki.com/funman1712/tim-boyd-on-line-mo/

As an example, here's one that I started back around 1973-4 but only completed last year....a buildup of the extremely well detailed JoHan Mickey Thompson '72 Mustang kit. http://images58.fotki.com/v612/photos/6/998986/9961957/DSC_0193-vi.jpg It's a complete, 39-step article showing each step of construction and the completed project.

Thanks for looking and may this thread survive and thrive for months and year to come! TIM DSC_0193-vi.jpg
