Chuck Most Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 It hit central Michigan today, so I'm assuming the more civilized parts of the country should be getting it any time now. I've only thumbed through it so far, but liking what I see.

Tom Kren Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 HOPE TO PICK IT UP FRIDAY AFTER WORK ! AND A REVIEW OF DR CRANKYS NEW BOOK i HEAR ITS A GREAT BOOK !
sjordan2 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Just got it today, in perfect condition as usual. I must say that this issue has some of the best photography I've ever seen in MCM, especially on the cover and in the section on GSL XXIII. I just wonder if dedicating the cover to specialized subjects like a sprint car and a dragster has enough newsstand appeal to attract a wide audience. I say that because I'm loyal enough to the mag to root for its success. One question: In the review of the CMC Bugatti Atlantic diecast, the question is asked if there should only be two taillights - no photos on how the kit handles it. This model is based on the Pope Atlantic currently owned by Ralph Lauren (now painted black). The Pope car in earlier blue paint (like the model) should only have one brake taillight per side (as Wayne Moyer noted from the L.G. Matthews book), but the Lauren restoration has two taillights on each side, for a total of four. Same car, different stuff.
Harry P. Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 I just wonder if dedicating the cover to specialized subjects like a sprint car and a dragster has enough newsstand appeal to attract a wide audience. If MCM was available on newsstands I might have to worry about stuff like that...
sjordan2 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 If MCM was available on newsstands I might have to worry about stuff like that... Plus a few words here to make sure I don't merely answer this with an emoticon.
Harry P. Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Besides... who's to say what type of model necessarily appeals to a wide audience? I mean besides General Lee...
Harry P. Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 And as far as the quality of the photography... I'm at the mercy of the contributor. Yeah, my old pal Photoshop and I can do a lot, but I'm not a miracle worker. Both cover models were Photoshopped by me big time... even though they are among the better quality photos I usually get. I have to retouch virtually every single photo you see in the mag, some a little, some I have to basically recreate from scratch. The time I spend just retouching the photos in any given issue would amaze you. Top quality builders are not always top quality photographers!
