Maindrian Pace and Steve, yeah, the grille doesn't look right at all.

From what I remember on my '65, it's like you could not see the upright or vertical bars on the grille until you got really close. It seemed like an almost straight across horizontal bars, with the center nose, that seems smaller also.

And yes, those two gas caps, which are wrong shape also.

To me, they weren't that ovalish, if that's a word. I remember it being round so it would be able to twist off. With an oval, it could not twist.

Heh, from Hawai'i, we make up our own words, yes?

Maybe this weekend I can start it.

I have enough ScaleFinishes.com paint to get a nice color combo to choose from.

Even got all the engine colors too!

Did Modelhaus make a '65 grille?

I'll call Bob over at Model Car Garage (again) and see what he has got for ideas on this one.

That would fix the grille "problem" for sure.

Gregg, Modelhaus makes a replica annual kit/promo grille for the '65 Falcon, it wasn't perfect either but it was the right shape. Headlight rings are a bit heavy. A MCG photoetch kit with grille, scripts, fender 289 emblems, etc would be nice. And yes, the uprights in the grille are painted flat black from the factory.

The gas cap is correct:

It has a round recess so it twists on and off normally.

Rare dual fuel tank option :)

No, just one tank. But dual gas caps was part of the rare "ambidextrous package" that accommodated both left-handed and right-handed drivers! It also included a reversible ash tray...

Rendunant feature- one filler neck rusts out or collapses, just use the auxillary filler. :P

But there shouldn't be one on each side of the car! :o

I agree completely, poor research and or quality control on their part. However it was an relatively easy fix which I posted in "in progress" section. http://www.modelcars...pic=47496&st=20

It actually took me more time to write it all down and post the photos then to do the repair. I'll let someone else figure out a solution for the grille. Hopefully a resin caster will come to our rescue.

Has anyone figured out what they mean by "stock plus?"

Plus what???

Three wheel choices, two sets of tires, two intake and exhaust choices if you count the parts they call a single exhaust as a choice. Two sets of valve covers, three different shifters and a small hood scoop. If you chose to use the "custom parts" you'd have a mild street machine.

maybe it's some of that wacky "lost in translation" stuff?

maybe they meant to say "figure and the horse not included" or..................

maybe Trumpeter only knows what a D horse is?

Its like D Plane....D Plane!!!!!

Oddjobs' was a six cyl plain jane '64. Easy to kitbash, though the hubcaps are different than '65s and were never in a kit. I got my Ranchero a few days ago, $45.35 to my door. Ebay can be good sometimes.

Always amazes me how that Ranchero is able to hold an entire cubed Lincoln without the rear end even sagging even a little bit. Must have the heavy-duty leaf spring option!

Odd Job was a pretty big guy... maybe that balanced the load? B)

What I wondered with the box art, is the guy planning to try and haul that horse in the back or up front with him so's it don't fall out at the first corner?

at this point i'm actually hoping that they do a wagon.

They get the body right, and maybe as an added bonus, fix the engine, I'd definitely be willing to consider purchasing one.
