Lunajammer Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 This is the result of a glue bomb restoration from some years ago but it's never been posted. I invite you to view the WIP in the Glue Bomb Invitational Community Build section. Thanks for your interest. http://www.modelcars...ic=45487&st=100
Tonioseven Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 That is one of the most fantastic builds of that year Toronado I've ever seen!! The first picture belongs in a frame! I have a glue bomb '70 Toronado to restore eventually but the chrome parts are elusive right now but I will find them eventually. Thank you for sharing this build!!
imatt88 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 BEAUTIFUL!!!! Antonio, have you tried Modelhaus for replacement parts? Cheers, Ian
oldscool Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Very, very nice work. The paint and underhood area look excellent. gus
Monty Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Gotta love this board. I enjoy seeing these old Toronado kits being built, and in the last couple months we've had a couple other builds that were intriguing to watch, but I don't think they had to put anywhere near the amount of effort into their projects as you put into this one. My compliments for rescuing that kit and seeing the project through to completion. Object lesson for new builders: tenacity pays off. If the Dupli-Color paint you used wasn't an Olds color for that year, it should've been. By any chance, do you still have the can or know the part number?
sjordan2 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 That is absolutely spectacular all around. Great work on the grille and the top.
Lunajammer Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 If the Dupli-Color paint you used wasn't an Olds color for that year, it should've been. By any chance, do you still have the can or know the part number? Thank you so much to everybody for the warm comments. This was one of my favorite builds. Monty that was an awesome color. With a polished Duplicolor clear over the top I liked it so much I emptied the can on two other builds, then yes, SAVED the empty can. Keep in mind this was completed in the mid 90's. Code: DS-CC 295, 1977-78 Chrysler.
charlie8575 Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Considering what you started with, Mike, that is absolutely fantastic! And such a pretty color, too. That red isn't too far off for some of the colors GM offered in that period, so it looks good. The vinyl top, I feel, actually looks pretty good. Sometimes, they end up grossly out-of-scale. After painting and sufficient cross-hatch sanding, it looks good to me. Very, very nicely done. Charlie Larkin
58 Impala Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Very nice job. It's nice to see rare old plastic brought back to life.
W-409 Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Really nice job! Glue Bombs are fun to restore, and you've done this one very nicely. Paintjob looks very good, and color is nice. I like the engine detailing too, it's great. Very clean build all over, nothing to complaine about. Chassis looks very good too. Great job.
Dominik Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 beautiful Olds - well done! A picture before restoring should be interesting
Lunajammer Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Dominik, I didn't want to repeat myself on different threads so at the top I included a hyperlink to the pre-restoration photos in the CBP forum. Thanks Dominik and the rest of you again for the warm compliments.
