mikemodeler Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Congrats on hitting the 8,000 mark and let's hope that translates into more input from knowledgeable sources. As for how many of the 8,000 are "active", I would say it is like most businesses where the 80/20 rule applies- 80% of the biz comes from 20% of the customers. Gregg, just for the heck of it, can you give us some insight as to how long it took for the forum to hit certain milestones? I know I was number 138 to register here years ago but what was the timeframe to get to 1,000? 2,000? etc.
jeffs396 Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Congrats!!! I only wish one of you would have told me about this and the mag years ago! I guess I was living under a rock (internet-wise) back in 2006!
Danno Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Thanks, Jim, and Jim! And don't mind Danno and his infatuation with show girls. You know it's that heat in Phoenix that does it. It's a nod and a tip of the hat to my friend and brother from another mother Agent G; he has a showgirl fetish and reminded me that I do, too! (Emoticon here indicating 'drooling at the thought' ... )
Chuck Most Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I don't know where all this talk of showgirls suddenly came from, but "Showgirls" was on TV the other day. Of course the "narrative" was hard to follow because they chopped out all the juicy parts! That's one of those rare films that is actually way better with Mute on. Wait, I guess movies like that aren't so rare at all now that I think of it.
Keef Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 8,000?...Where are them? I agree, where are these 8,000 members? I'd say a good 30-40% have left due to life, getting out of the hobby, etc. another 30% have probably gone away due to the drama and B.S. that goes on here. So that leaves about 30-40% who actually login and post something, not including the lurkers who just come to read the boards and not post anything because they either A) arent working on anything or are afraid of being criticized for their efforts by the "mob rules" clique thats beginning to be associated with this site.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Showgirls and model cars, now there's a reality TV show hit!
Jairus Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Someone say "Girls"? Donuts? What'dIdothistime? 8000 members, 20% post regular and I am still member #2.
Keef Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 8000 members, 20% post regular and I am still member #2. but you'll always be "#1" in our minds
Wayne Buck Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 WOW!! Way to go, Gregg!! Congrats! I have a few websites of my own and know how much work they can be to maintain... also, the cost of having a large volume of traffic... Hats off to you and thank you so much for this awesome forum! MCM Rules!!!!!
Guest Johnny Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Wouldn't it suck to have to look at that view every day??? I was out there in October 1972 but slept through it, I didn't wake up until May 1973 stateside!(Chicago) Great accomplishment Gregg!
Jairus Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 No Cato... he's saying: "Lost on a deserted island, send girls and beer".
Cato Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 No Cato... he's saying: "Lost on a deserted island, send girls and beer". If so, I hope his Missus doesn't read this forum....:<((
bbowser Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I don't post alot ,because I don't really finish alot ,but I come here every day to see what others have finished,or are working on ,or what different things others are trying, and I enjoy this site quite a bit. So although I haven't posted much I am very happy to be one of the 8,000 ,So congratulations and I hope we see 8,000 more .. jim Same for me, I don't post a lot because it takes forever to finish a build in between life and work. It's a milestone and so what if some (many) are inactive? I've come to enjoy all the diverse opinions on here whether I agree or not, they make me think. Kudos to everyone involved in keeping this site running.
