Dr. Cranky Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Well, folks, Area-51 UFO Tracker is finished, and I want to say THANK YOU to all of you for your comments, support, and just wonderful energy. It's always a pleasure and an honor to build with so many of you watching. It makes the hobby room less lonely and productive. So THANK YOU all and enjoy:
Dr. Cranky Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 Just a few more . . . perhaps this one will one day be a part of a diorama! I see a UFO crash site . . . .etc . . . that would be so much fun!
Tony T Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Excellent, Doc...love it!! You and EYEGORE make a creative team!! Love all the UFO hunter equipment...will have to look for the Warhammer stuff at my LHS next time I'm there... One thing of note that jumped out at me...A military vehicle would not have a chrome mirror...the left mirror looks out of place as it's too shiny. A new mirror to replace one broken off, maybe? I like how the gumball base has a nice gunky look...Is it too late to get some of that gunk on the mirror??
Dr. Cranky Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 Never too late, buddy. Thanks for the good eye . . . it never dawned on my that a military vehicle would not have any chrome, but you are right . . .those are the little details that count. Thanks. Best, DC
Sixx Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Cool stuff Doc!!! I guess I'll have to kick ET out now!!! After I take his/my reeses pieces back!!! LOL!!!!
Flatearthman Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 love it, but what is with all the holes in the body? am i missing something
Dr. Cranky Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 Barrett, LOL! Nope you are not missing anything . . . it's just something I ended up doing, following some strange and CRANKYFIED logic, as if the cargo would be so toxic at times, you needed lots of vents to let out the poisons. HA! Thanks for tuning in.I meant to say CRANKYFRIED! Which is different from CRANKYFIED! LOL!
Chuck Most Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Whoa... didn't you just start on that thing?
sjordan2 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Another fun, beautifully made original. (Those aliens really know how to hold a tight machine gun pattern)
Dr. Cranky Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 Thanks, Skip. LOL! Chuck, yes, about a year ago and it sat there until I got tired of looking at it unfinished. I put on my Cranky nerves and went at it . . . now, it's finished. Perhaps a diorama will call out to me eventually. Right now I need to paint some smooth, glossy bodies! I have a hankering for glossy paint, I wonder why?
bsoder Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 This one tickles my funny bone!...well you explained the holes. but what exactly is the "device" in the trunk...or is that top secret if I recall you did an area 51 dio a while back I seem to remember an alien and day glo green "blood"?
Dr. Cranky Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 Good memory, Brian . . . well, the interior is all Gizmology--I don't know what it all does, other than track UFOs and if any land or crash, this vehicle collects some of the basic data, etc . . . LOL, that's my story and I am sticking with it. Cheers, DC
crazyjim Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 That's pretty neat, Dr. Cranky. You know I'm not rust/weathered builder, but I can see this puppy sitting out in the desert waiting for a UFO.
Terror Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Great piece Doc,Lets see some more rust ,please..
Dr. Cranky Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 Thanks, everyone . . . yes, there will be more rust. Why? Because: LONG LIVE RUST!
peter31a Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Oh my! What IS in the air down there? Another great Doc Cranky and Eyegore build! Look forward to seeing this placed in a diorama setting.
Scalper Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Cool Looking build. love the rust and the camo.
Agent G Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I do believe I've seen that parked out behind my office before. I love it. G
Dr. Cranky Posted September 19, 2011 Author Posted September 19, 2011 LOL, thanks, Wayne . . . yeah you are in an interesting part of the country.
Agent G Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 It's about 100 miles as the crow flies to Area 51. Nellis AFB is on the other side of the valley, and Creech AFB is just up the 95. There's all sorts of exotic stuff flying around at night. G
Dr. Cranky Posted September 19, 2011 Author Posted September 19, 2011 I bet. There's always something going on in those night skies! Which is a good reason to always travel with a pocket camera.
